Photos and Description of this Paros holiday mill

The windmill is situated in a 5500qm area, 1000qm of which belong to the mill, and is surrounded by palms, stone-pines and olive trees. Dwelling space of 65qm on three floors. Ground floor: big living room with kitchen facilities, bathroom. The big terrace with slace soil is the real living room when the guests spend the whole day under a big sunshade and a roof of bamboo, surrounded by hibiscus. The spacious first floor consists of an additional bathroom (shower and toilet) and a bedroom with a twin bed and a balcony from which you have a view on the Isle of Paros. You'll find a second bedroom with three single beds on the second floor directly beneath the dome of the mill. There aren't any doors within the house, only the bed on the second floor can be separated by a curtain. This fact should be considered according to the degree of privacy you want in case you intend to share the house with friends. Five minutes to the beach with shadow of tamarisks almost to the waterfront.

The place is surrounded by low water in the east and deeper water in the south and west. Many small islands can be reached by rowing a boat. Only few of the Agean Isles are so peaceful in summer, offer rest, silence, crystal-clear water, magic colours as well as nearness to more lively islands as Paros, Naxos, Mykonos and Saloniki. The biggest and deepest stalactic cavern of all the Aegean Isles can be found in the eastern part or Antiparos. A visit is a must for all the people who want to dive into a strange world. Connoisseurs have known and appreciated Antiparos for its open and uncomplicated people, the friendly pubs with their typical colours and various delicious meals. Prehistoric findings on the neighbouring Island of Despotiko are another attraction for people interested in those subjects. On nice and clear days, of which there are more than 330 in a year, eight further islands of the Cyclade can be seen from the peaks of Antiparos, reachable without special climbing skills.

More information: Several years ago the island was chosen as a recreation place by rich Greeks; that's why the soil was prevented from being divided into small lots, so the balance of nature and architecture have been saved up to these days. You can see as well as catch octopuses, calamari and fish in the clear turquoise-blue water (snorkel stuff available in the near village). Please ask the locals how to prepare what you have caught. Within two weeks you will have had so much sun, sea and relaxation that you are supplied with energy for the coming six months. If you decide to stay for four weeks, however, you can be sure to gain enough power for eighteen months. Take that for granted. *Translated by Günter Hornung and Astrid Fries

Was soll man sagen.. Wir fühlten uns so wohl in diesen 4 Wänden, bzw. in diesen runden, lichtdurchfluteten Räumen, auf der breiten ausladenden Terasse unter der Pergola (oder unter den Sternen), unter den Pinien in der Hängematte, das war für meinen Mann und mich das richtige Plätzchen für unseren "honeymoon". Kleine Sandbuchten, sauberstes Wasser und ein schmackhafte Essen in den Tavernen, rundeten den vorzüglichen Eindruck ab. Ein ruhiger, wohltuender Platz zum Erholen, Nachdenken und über die unendlichen Weiten des Kosmos nachzudenken...

Nach Erlebnisreicher Anreise wurden wir am nächsten Morgen durch die aufgehende Sonne, den schönen Ausblick und die gesamte Mühle sehr angenehm überrascht. Der Vermieter hat nicht geflunkert. Der Hausstrand mit den vielen Besuchern (max. 15 Stück) war einfach sagenhaft ebenso das Wasser. Die empfohlenen Tavernen super die Einwohner ebenfalls. Die fahrbaren Untersätze von Aggelos und die Betreuung waren sehr gut.
Es war unser erster Griechenlandurlaub, wird wohl nicht der letzte gewesen sein. Erholung pur, einfach die Seele beim abendlichen Sternenhimmel und einem Glas Wein oder Ouzo baumeln lassen

Ganz grossartig war die hervorragende Organisation unserer Anreise durch den Vermieter und der nette Kontakt zu ihm im Vorfeld. Von Fährtickets über Miet-Moped bis zum Ansprechpartner vor Ort in der nächsten Taverne oder im Supermarkt: Alles hat gepasst !
So eine Mühle ist natürlich was spezielles; nicht zu vergleichen mit dem Komfort eines Hotelzimmers. Aber uns hat es großen Spass gemacht uns ein bißchen um Haus und Grundstück zu kümmern (Terrasse fegen, Blumen gießen, Tonne rausstellen, Katzen füttern ect.). Die Betten waren bequem, eine große Auswahl an Büchern und Reiseführern vorhanden, viele Tipps von Vormietern im Gästebuch nachzulesen und Ruhe, Ruhe, Ruhe..... Praktisch ist ein fahrbarer Untersatz (günstig vor Ort zu leihen bei "Aggelos") zum Beschaffen der täglichen Verpflegung. Und sonst: Man kommt sich wirklich nahe und kann eine sehr innige Zeit verbringen, vor allem, wenn man in der Nachsaison auf Antiparos Urlaub macht. Wir haben außer ein paar Einwohnern kaum Menschen getroffen, hatten traumhafte Strandbuchten für uns alleine und schon am 2. Tag wußte jeder im Ort: "Ah, you live in Manolis Mill !"

Wir dachten, wir träumen: als uns auf Antiparos/Kykladen (GR) die drei Hollywood Mega Stars Tom Hanks, Harrison Ford und Brad Pitt (m. Ehefrau) Ende Juni 2004 auf der Fußgängerzone dieser kleinen, ruhigen aber malerischen Insel begegneten, dachten wir an eine Sinnestäuschung. Es ist aber wahr: sie waren da bis Mitte Juli, und zumindest TOM HANKS konnten wir zu einem griechischen Kaffee in der von uns angemieteten Windmühle bewegen. Tom Hanks hat sich auch sofort in die Mühle verliebt, und wollte sie kaufen (Besitzer ließ aber darüber nicht mit sich reden..). Auf jeden Fall: unvergesslicher Urlaub in einer tollen Gegend, in einer wunderschönen Windmühle mit viel Komfort und einem Garten mit Pinien und Olivenbäumen! Wir kommen wieder, beim Zeus!
