Our trip June 20th-27th 2009

We had an absolute blast at Casa Rector. The house was spotless clean (although don't be surprised to see very large cockroaches in your rooms at night) and the yard and pool were spectacular. The town of Puntarenas itself was not all that nice, in fact even a little bit scary at times, but there was so much else to do that it really didn't matter to us.
Rich was amazingly helpful before leaving and even called to check on us once we were there, but the true heart of this house was Maribelle and Arturo and their family. I know everyone talks about them in their review but that is because they are just that amazing. Much to my surprise they speak VERY little english but Marielle, their daughter, speaks quite a bit and Madelin their youngest just melted our hearts. We were able to take her with us one day to the hot springs and really wanted to keep her. Maribelle is, like everyone mentions, a fantastic cook and worth much more than 25.00 a day. She was not a minute late on any of our meals and keeps the house in tip-top shape. Everyday we were so excited to see what she would make next! And Arturo is the hardest working man we have ever seen (but really appreciates the offer of a beer), and has a truly heart warming smile. And we also joined the group of people who Bronco, the guard dog wrapped around his fingers. :)
The travel company down the road, Varso, is great as well and we did the 25 zip-lines, the Tortuga trip, the monkeys (amazing), the Baldi hot springs and the Croc trip through them. Great people. We had a car so it made it nice and easy to drive to places like Jaco and the hot springs without having a bunch of other people on our trips.
We had a fantastic time and highly recommend Casa Rector and all it has to offer. Our group of six would like to thank Rich, Maribelle, Arturo, Marielle, Madelin and Bronco for making our trip unforgettable!

Owner's Response: Thanks for the wonderful review! And you´re right there are some bugs in Costa Rica. Water bugs are common near the waterfront and palm trees. But, luckily, they rarely make an appearance.
Puntarenas is a larger city, and like many larger cities you must travel wisely. No problems have ever been reported to us. We are 7 miles from the city.
