A spacious historic property on Kelleys Island that is the ultimate getaway for rest and relaxation. This homestead was the First Wine Cellar north of Cincinnati. Located on the south shore of the island, 'Rock Haven' is a 15-minute walk from Downtown Kelleys or West Bay Inn Bar and Restaurant. The first floor consists of a roomy updated kitchen with an island; large dining area with Amish built table and chairs; 1 full bath; washer and dryer area; and a unique gathering room with floor to ceiling windows, 2 sofas, a large round table with chairs perfect for appetizers, dinner or a round of cards and a refurbished 13 ft. Lyman boat that is now the bar. Perfect for concocting evening cocktails while watching the sunset out on the deck. A door leads you from this unique room onto a 2,000 square foot 3-level deck with a 6-person hot tub, 2 picnic tables, lounge chairs for sunning and 2 round tables with umbrellas on the top level.

  • $1350-1750/Week
  • $1750 per/week(Will only rent by the week during the Summer)) or $300 per/night (Labor Day Through Halloween weather permitting). Check-in: 3:00 p.m.; Check-out: 11:00 a.m. A $300 deposit is required in a timely manner after you contact us. This deposit guarantees your reservation. Should you find it necessary to cancel this reservation, your deposit will be forfeited unless written notice is received by us at least 30 days prior to your arrival, or we are able to re-rent the home for the full term of your reservation.
    We accept money orders, cashiers checks or credit cards. No Personal Checks please.
    Payment of your Total Balance Due must be made PRIOR to your arrival (mailed to David Bier, P.O. Box 1015, Sandusky, OH. 44871), and must include all dates originally reserved.

Beautiful oak stairs lead to the updated second floor featuring 3 bedrooms with ceiling fans with 1 full size bed each, 1 bedroom with 2 twin beds and 1 roomy full bath. A spacious second deck also leads from the second floor hallway for additional outdoor relaxation. A second set of stairs leads to the third floor with ceiling fans with 2 huge picture windows that allow for a breathtaking view of Lake Erie. Wicker furniture and an old restaurant booth allow for further escape into fun and games or more relaxation. There is a large front and back yard for unlimited outdoor activities including your own private beach which is across the street. But be sure to bring your old tennis shoes to use while swimming as this is an authentic Kelleys Island limestone beach that is mostly rocks. However, there is plenty of room to put a lawn chair for sensational sunning. Amenities: Private beach, views of Lake Erie from all rooms.

Full kitchen w/ cookware, dishes and utensils, dishwasher, microwave, refrigerator, stove, coffee maker, toaster; washer/dryer; Lyman boat bar, 6-person hot tub, 1 TV in gathering room, radio and CD player with indoor and outdoor speakers, large deck, gas grill, deck furniture, bath towels, beach towels, bed linens, ceiling fans in most rooms. No pets and no smoking indoors please. Area: Will need to take Kelleys Island Ferry Boat Line from Marblehead, Ohio which is approximately 25 minutes from Cedar Point and Sandusky, Ohio. Log on to their website for a boat schedule. Cars are allowed.

I so enjoyed my visit to Kelleys Island and our stay at Rockhaven. The private beach really extended our activities and afforded us a view from every window and the expansive decks (3 of them!). The kitchen was fully stocked and we cooked almost all our meals. The dishwasher and washer/dryer were a godsend with small children. There is an amazing pantry that held a lot of our dry food. The bedrooms were airy and pretty cool even in July. Everyone seemed to sleep well. The only drawback was that some of the house was below grade and it was very damp. The living room was musty, but what else can you expect when the air is humid. We really didn't use the living room/dining room. There are really no windows. We did use the bar. The large table could sit all 10 of us. The boat which was also a bar was a marvel. My two sons-in-law were intrigued and even figured out how to turn on all the neon lights and make the Genesee light spin. But we are really not big drinkers so the huge boat/bar was more used for storage than a bar.

I would (and will) recommend this property to my friends and I plan to return next summer.

We brought bikes and biked a lot and rented golf carts for an hour for those who wanted to drive a cart. We went to the beach 3 times,it is great for kids! We went to the grooves, tasted wine at the winery, went to the museum, did some shopping, played mini golf twice, got ice cream, fudge, toys, post cards. There is not a good place to take 10 people, including 3 children out to dinner. The restaurants are mostly bars and very noisy, Couples went out several times and enjoyed Bag the Moon and the Brewery. We had a fire on the beach (NEAT)!

Rockhaven is the ultimate summer get away house. Dick and Paula were wonderful hosts. The hottub, bar, horseshoe pit's, and deck make this house the best. Thank you Lainie for a wonderful time. see you next year.
