Experience St. John’s natural beauty from this one bedroom home overlooking Coral Bay Harbor. This handcrafted cottage was specially built by its owner with the protection of the environment in mind. Surrounded by trees, with gorgeous views of Coral Bay and Bordeaux Mountain, this is a perfect couples’ getaway, a beautiful home to call your own for a week or more. With a fully equipped kitchen, luxurious king size bed, and spacious wrap around decks on both floors (hammock included!), Just Enough provides the ideal base for exploring the island of St. John. For parties of up to 6 people, Just Enough can be rented together with New Moon, another one bedroom house on the same property. Located 10-15 minutes from both the North and South shore beaches and trails, swimming, snorkeling and hiking opportunities abound. A variety of restaurants, shops and bars are less than ½ mile away in Coral Bay, and the bustling nightlife and shopping of downtown Cruz Bay can be reached in 25 minutes.

St. John boasts some of the top beaches in the world, which are protected by the existence of the Virgin Islands National Park. The Park makes up about 2/3rds of the island, and provides wonderful hiking, snorkeling, diving and other activities. Hiking trails range from easy walks to strenuous hill climbing, always rewarded with gorgeous views. Just driving along the Northshore road through the park or out to the east end of the island provides awe inspiring views. Recent archaeological finds in the Park are explained through exhibits at the visitor center or at the Cinnamon Bay museum. Coral Bay, the town where Just Enough is located, is a laid-back area, but recent development has meant that more amenities are available close to home (within a mile), including groceries, shops and restaurants.

The property was just as advertised. It was clean and well maintained. The water is collected from rainfall so make sure you get some bottled water at the local grocery. Love City grocery is the best, it's amazing how much they pack in the place. Make sure you rent a jeep like we did, because the dirt road to the house is a rough ride (but nothing like the cut through between RT10 & 20 that goes to the Catherineberg Sugar Ruins). It's about 50 or so steps down to the cottage, I'm in pretty good shape for 45 and it would still get my heart pumping in the mornings.

The views from the deck are wonderful (day and night). Every morning dozens of "banakeets" visit if you leave a little sugar on a plate. If you look closely you can see the hummingbirds. After a couple of days, the barakeets would hang out on the hammock with me in the afternoon. The stars at night are amazing. You could hear the bands at the Blues club in Coral Bay, but they seemed to shut down at 11 or 11:30 PM.

Cathy's assistant was waiting for us at the ferry and took us to the jeep rental (Paris). The cottage location is great for exploring the island, we hit many beaches, and highly recommend Salt Pond (good beach and snorkling), Haulover (Rocky beach best snorkling), and Trunk (beautiful beach with good snorkling trail for the inexperienced).

Stop at the Tourist Trap on your way back from Salt Pond, get a "Drink right drive left" from the owner, he invented them (according to multiple sources). The Shipwreck Resturaunt is also on this road for a nice dinner. Donkey Diner for breakfast (Don't stop on the road to look at the donkeys unless you want to be surrounded by them, they are pretty cool).

Things are expensive on St John, except the Rum, but hey you're on vacation.

Just Enough

We stayed at Just Enough for our honeymoon - the spot was ideal - total seclusion from the outside world. The house overlooks Coral Bay and there are 180o views of it.
Its ideally situated for getting to any part of the island - especially Maho Beach which is amazing.
We loved cooking on the grill on the deck and watching the stars for hours at night. We've never seen so many stars at one time!
There are steps down to the property but you get used to them and they only caused a problem when it came to leaving and getting our luggage back up them.
There are no windows but if you like waking up to a gentle breeze then its fine.
Overall, we loved our holiday here and would definately return.
