General Comments:
Our cottage is legally located in Campton township but the town of Plymouth is physically closer. Plymouth is a quaint little New England college town -- complete with a lovely town square and band gazebo! There are several local artist co-ops nearby where you can purchase locally hand-made gorgeous artwork (jewelry, pottery, fiber art, paintings, photographs, etc) and numerous museums and nature centers.
Nature:
Our property is a place for enjoying nature! This is a heavily wooded area -- gorgeous any time of the year, but the fall colors are breathtaking! There are over 7 miles of hiking trails that wind throughout our 90+ acres of woodland, and the property is surrounded on 3 sides by over 1000 acres of woods held in conservation easements. Our property is clearly marked on all sides with orange survey tape and paint. The trails are also marked and we have the entire system mapped (maps are sent in advance to guests and more are kept at the house). You can safely hike our trails without worrying about getting lost. An abundance of wildlife abounds due to the diverse habitats we are creating through our conservation efforts. Hiking, sledding, or snowshoeing on our property are all fantastic! We have sleds and snowshoes available for your use. Nearby outdoor activities are limited only by your imagination: ice climbing; skiing; snowshoeing; hiking; swimming; sailing; bicycling...
Water Sports & Skiing:
Nearby water attractions include Squam Lakes (the movie On Golden Pond was filmed there), Newfound Lake, and Lake Winnepesauke (public beaches are at both Newfound Lake and Lake Winn). There are two Water Parks located at Weirs Beach in Meredith on Lake Winn. The Baker River runs through the Baker Valley and is five to ten minutes from our place - it is a very popular rafting river. Bog Pond is a lovely pond to canoe on and and is only 1.4 miles away. You may use our 16 foot canoe and paddles (on this pond only). Additionally, the massive Pemigewasset River runs past Campton and Plymouth. Folks fish, boat, kayak, and raft on the river. The back of the property overlooks Tenney Mountain ski area. This ski area is only 10 minutes from the house. There are three other ski areas 15-20 minutes of the house: Waterville Valley, Loon Mountain, and Ragged Mountain. Cannon & Attitash are about 25 minutes from the house.
