Glanleam is an enchanted old estate. Spellbound by its magical setting of sheer natural beauty the Knights of Kerry made Glanleam their home. Keen botanists, they planted 1000's of foreign and exotic plants into the already existing woods in Glanleam's valley, resulting in today's jungle-like subtropical paradise. Five generations of Knights lived here, each extending the original building, turning Glanleam House into a manor - now an elegant B&B by its present owners. The Boathouse, Gardener's Cottage, Estate Manager's House and Hothouse are converted into beautiful self-catering holiday homes. Beyond the woods and gardens Glanleam's soft meadows turn into weatherbeaten fields as they meet the rough southwest Kerry coast stretching as far as the lighthouse. Walking here is a nature trail of its own with an ever-changing scenery. Also included in Glanleam is a working farm with sheep, geese and chickens (and delicious eggs!), ponies, dogs, bunnies and possibly world's oldest cat.

Glanleam is situated on the island of Valentia, in the county of Kerry. Situated in its own private valley it offers peace, tranquility and 'getting-away-from-it-all. At the same time Glanleam is just a few minutes drive away from the famous and busy (and 'must-see') Ring-of Kerry and is conveniently close to the attractions of Kerry. Valentia is about 7 miles long and 3 miles wide, consists of 2 villages, 1 gone-back-in-time grocery store, 3 busy pubs, 4 cafes/restaurants, 2 souvenir shops, a candle maker, an endless supply of breathtaking scenery and local attractions, and the most welcoming locals, always making time for a chat - this is real island life. For bigger shopping it is advisable to go to Caherciveen, either by car ferry or by bridge. It takes between 20 to 30 minutes to get there, depending on your choice of crossing. Caherciveen is probably the only country and seaside town, which did not 'profit' from the recent booming years and remained truly Irish and very special.

Hier in diesem rießiegen, wunderschönen, subtropischen Park, lässt sich zwischen herrlichem Pflanzendickicht und wunderschönen Ausblicken, ganz einfach vom Alltag abschalten!!! Wir haben unsere Zeit im Gardener's Cottage total genossen. Es war unglaublich erholsam. Das Cottage war 100%ig sauber und sehr liebevoll eingerichtet. Die Vermieter waren wirklich sehr freundlich und haben uns alles genau erklärt. Wir werden auf jeden Fall wieder kommen und können Glenleam House & Gardens an jeden weiteremfehlen.
