Summary of Callirhoe House, 1 bedroom, sleeps 4
Recently restored historic, individual houses with personal air and character. They are 60m2-66m2 and comprise two main rooms each, with courtyard and top terrace, catching stunning views to the sea. The houses have been exquisitely detailed and furnished with authentic pieces from Neoclassical Greece. They have fully equipped kitchens and bathrooms. The houses are ideal for people looking for privacy and deep relaxation, while being close to some of the most beautiful sand beaches of Eastern Crete. The village, a very old settlement from Venetian Times, is located at 600m altitude and has been famous from ancient times for its healthy, dry climate. As the village is built against a steep slope, car access is restricted. The houses are surrounded by walkways, while the main road and parking area are at a distance of 30-50 m. They are 20 min away from the azure and sandy beaches of Mirabello Bay or from the ones extending east of Lerapetra, formed around small bays.

An interior wooden stair runs the whole height of the house (each floor is isolated with doors) and ends up to the top view terrace. The interiors are furnished with selected pieces from neoclassical Greece and paintings of well known Greek artists. It is ideal as a luxury vacation house for a romantic couple or a family with children.

The village
The village has been famous for its healthy, dry climate and in past times as a healing place for tuberculosis. It is surrounded by forests, has many natural water springs and many places of natural beauty to explore by walking, by mountain bike or by car. Inside the village there are two parish churches from Venetian and Byzantine times with a precious collection of icons and temple fronts. In the vicinity there are small Byzantine chapels. There is the possibility of joining group excursions to sites of natural beauty or archaeology or to historic villages. There are car rental services in Ierapetra with option of receiving or leaving you at the airport.
EATING OUT - SWIMMING
Manolis taverna on the main road of the village offers simple inexpensive food, while 'DRYES' is an open air restaurant with exquisite food and environment, located east 2 km away (set against a rocky slope with trees and water spring and views to the sea). Half way to Ierapetra there is another restaurant, Asteria set against a huge rock with equally excellent food. Other picturesque tavernas are to be found in the neighbouring villages Malles and Kalamafka while cosmopolitan cafes, bars, restaurants and pizza parlours are to be found in Ierapetra and Myrtos. Since Ierapetra is lacking port, part of its waterfront is transformed into an esplanade with restaurants and cafes, while the rest has kept its sandy beach character with clear, shallow waters for swimming. East of Ierapetra extends a big sandy beach of 25 km approximately, listed among the best 10 of Crete, with gulfs and picturesque tavernas. At Kalo Chorio two of the best beaches of Crete 'Voulisma' & 'Ag.Panteleimon'
Fine products
In Ierapetra you can find abundant fresh fish (from local fishermen), a rich selection of local fruits and vegetables as well as excellent dairy products from East Crete and the famous Lassithi Plateau. There are also special bakery shops, like Veterano, with a variety of breads and delicious grain breads (look for the barley or whole wheat breads), while the patisserie Koronato (behind the Archaeological Collection) offers the most savoury selection of sweets and pastries (from Greece and Turkey), cookies, ice creams, etc.
Other Activities Walking and or mule riding to special sites and monuments around the village
