Welcome to 'Cottage by the Sea'---an ideal place for rest, relaxation and romance. Imagine a place that feels so far off the beaten track you can still feel the spirit of 'Old Hawaii' gracing the rooms of this ideal little cottage. It is simple yet perfect, complete with all the details that make a place truly comfortable and homey. The cottage is decorated with many personal touches, tropical and artistic with its own unique feeling. Cottage by the Sea features a fully equipped kitchen and sunny living room with cable TV, a DVD player, and air conditioning. Internet access is available, along with a lending library and a variety of family games. The living room also has two ceiling fans, a dining table as well as island counter seating, a sitting area and an additional queen size bed. Many windows grace the rooms, each one looking out to the lush, colorful garden and the mountains beyond.

In the Waimanalo Area: 3 Golf Courses within a 15 minute drive of the cottage, Local Art Gallery and Local Style Restaurants right in Waimanalo Hike to the famous Waimanalo Lighthouse where on a clear day you can see the island of Mauia. In the winter whales pass right along the coast, easily seen from the Lighthouse. Hike through tropical rainforest to cascading waterfall and pool. Horseback riding and Polo Fields Hanauma Bay (famous for the great snorkeling) is 5 minutes away Sea Life Park and the well-known 'Wolphin' is 5 minutes from here. 25 minutes to the Honolulu Airport 30 minutes to Waikiki/Honolulu 10 minutes to Kailua (fine dining and shopping)

A cool and romantic bedroom features a queen size bed with ceiling fan, and beautiful island art to create a sensual and very Hawaiian type of ambiance. Guests repeatedly tell me how at home they feel here, with the cozy atmosphere and attention to detail so evident. The cottage is nestled in a large tropical garden filled with banana and papaya trees, colorful flowers and the fragrant aroma of plumerias floating on the ocean breeze. Birdsong and the sound of the ocean surf fill the garden with its own special music. The location is ideal, in a residential country setting and only two houses from one of the most beautiful beaches on the island (in 2001 National Geographic named it one of the most beautiful beaches in the world!). The beach is totally undeveloped, just miles of undisturbed beauty with the stunning grandeur of the Ko'olau Mountains hugging the coastline in a spectacular embrace.

All this is only a two minute walk from the cottage! A great cottage has to have a great front porch. Here you will find a spacious (partially covered) lanai with a table for dining and a comfortable sofa ideal for reading a book and gazing out at the beautiful mountain views. After a tropical rain, cascading waterfalls all along the mountain range will take your breath away! In the back there is a private yard lush with tropical plants. The backyard has a gas barbecue grill with another dining area and a hammock (the ideal way to relax!) perfect for star gazing at night or lounging under the endless summer sun. Welcome to a little piece of paradise. Restore your spirit and feel the peace within. Let the sound of the waves caress you to sleep at night and embrace the morning with another perfect day at the beach.

We found our dream cottage in the REAL Hawaii.

This charming seaside cottage just steps from the MOST beautiful and MOST deserted beach on Oahu lives up to it's description and photos and exceeds them, in our opinion. My husband and I wanted to experience the 'old Hawaii' ON Oahu, to be near the other sights we wanted to see. The town of Waimanalo and this cottage felt like 'old Hawaii' and yet the well-stocked city of Kailua was 12 minutes away...bustling Waikiki about 25 minutes away (which thankfully seemed a whole world away.)

The hostess was a delight and great resource for our stay. We fell in love with the Winward side of Oahu and this area in particular. The garden surrounding the cottage is lush and flowery; I shot an entire roll of film in her gardens alone. Not surprisingly in a place so carefully and lovingly designed/decorated, romance and deep relaxation flourish. Enjoy!!

A great bang for your buck! Try this Rental

If you are a saavy traveler, hopeless romantic, looking for some much needed serenity, this is a must for you!! I feel like I have a respectable knowledge of Oahu, living there for 5 years of my life. This location is pure heaven. In addition to a fantastic location, you will meet one of those true human beings that is an instant memory the moment you meet her!! Skye, the property owner, added so much to this relaxing experience. Her warm hospitatlity greets you the moment you arrive. Her cottage is very, very clean, decorated with a true island touch. The property is just 3-4 minutes to one of the most beautiful places on this earth. The cottage is truly romantic, clean, quiet, peaceful and very memorable. If you are looking for an "island vacation" this cottage would be a smart and memorable place to rest your spirit, make some wonderful memories.

I have been to Hawaii six times and this was my best trip yet! I am so glad that we found this cottage. It was clean, quiet, and our host was very helpful! I loved that the kitchen was fully equipped with everything that we needed to prepare our meals. It was so nice to be able to use the outdoor grill and to be able to take in the lush greenery in our very private garden. This location was ideal for us. Not too close to the hustle and bustle of downtown, but a close enough drive so that we could enjoy a night out. And to be able to walk to the beach in a few minutes was so amazing!

I highly recommend this property to anyone that wants to have a peaceful and affordable Oahu vacation. Falling asleep to the waves at night is one of the many things that I miss about our cottage now that I'm back home! We can't wait to come back!! Thanks so much, Skye. It was such a pleasure!
