About me
I am privately here on the island since 30 years and I Know what I am talking about. For me the individual, gentle tourism is very important – without (not only) Tobago would be abandoned to the global mass tourism, because this kind of revenue is meantime the most important source of income besides crude oil and gas offshore between Trinidad und Venezuela. Bowlesville is owned by a good friend of mine, Vincent Bowles, native Tobagoian, living on Trinidad. His nephew Brunswick, “Bowlesy”, retired Calypsonian, lives in the neighbouring place Carnbee, is responsible for the small everyday needs and manages on demand a chef for you. I know this family since a long time. I do this job the 1st time and I don’t earn money by this, but considers as a friendship procuration for guests. Further questions I will gladly answer on best knowledge and conscience, relevant literature you find in a good bookstore.
About the island and the seasons
Naturally he most popular travel time is the so called 'dry season' between December and April, not to forget the carnival 'de greatest show on eart, man!' More and more visitors know to esteem the summer (Tobago is located 11° north of the equator) but with more shivers and less winds, therefore sometimes tropical storms (hurricanes stray only all 10 years) and high air humidity, but also a over bordering, wild blooming rain forest flora and the island wide, gaudy 'Tobago Heritage Festival' in July/August – everything with quite the same temperatures about 30°. At Grafton Beach and environment is only a bounded, tourism spare time facilities which is more in the surrounding of the airport and Pigeon Point. Who is able to discover the country life and the everyday life of the inhabitants will be richly rewarded (an acceptable English is an advantage).
About the individual behaviour
One hears about rising criminality actually on this quiet island - 'tranquil Tobago' how the inhabitant says and one does good not to be too careless with his properties. But this is also currently in European holiday domiciles. Nevertheless the entries and doors of Bowlesville have to be protected by lattices so that you can sleep more quiet. Attention: on Trinidad and Tobago is a total drug prohibition. The court judges even the smallest delict and is harsh also with “soft” drugs, it doesn’t matter whether you are inhabitant or guest. Sex – everyone has to know it for himself and herself. However I warn you emphatic against unprotected sex, because TT has one of the highest HIV infection rates of the world. Otherwise Tobago is for all “aficionados” (still) “one of the most enjoyable places in the world”.
Golf Information:
In about 3 km distance the 18 holes construction of Mt. Irvine Golf Club belonging to Mt. Irvine Bay Hotel and one of the most popular golf courses of the whole Caribbean. Since a while the new Hilton Tobago, about 7 km apart, at the Atlantic part of the island, it is an adequate activity field on its area with 3 courses for all golf friends.
