Recreation:
Some of the most beautiful cycling and hiking routes in all of the Altmühltal nature park can be experienced from Eichstätt without cars. The Willibald museum, the Diocesan museum or museum Bergér are ideal for visiting - not only during rainy weather. In the fossil quarry you can look for fossils yourself. The public pool offers refreshment on hot days. A boat tour on the Altmühl ends ideally in Eichstätt. The starting point in Dollnstein can be reached by train.
Gastronomy:
Nearby you have a variety of restaurants, normal-gourmet cuisine, from Asian to fast food restaurants. The many cafes, beer gardens and ice cream shops of the old city can be reached comfortably on foot.
Arrival and location:
Romantically located on the Altmühl you will find the bishop and university city of Eichstätt. Central in the Altmühltal natural park, Eichstätt is the ideal starting point for tours in the Altmühltal. By car or train you can reach Eichstätt and our holiday home comfortably. Coming from Munich, it is best to drive over the A9 (exit 'Ingolstadt/Nord' or 'Lenting'), coming from Nuremberg, leave the A9 at the 'Altmühltal' exit. Eichstätt is well connected through the train line Ingolstadt - Treuchtlingen to the long-distance network of the German trains. The train station in Eichstätt is just a few minutes on foot from our holiday home.
