This 3 bedroom home has 100' of direct lake frontage and is just 5 minutes from the the gorgeous sandy beaches of Lake Michigan. Little Platte Lake is wonderful for swimming and fishing, with clear water and a sandy bottom. This home includes the use of 3 kayaks and a rowboat for enjoying the lake. The property is adjacent to the amazing Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, and just minutes from the charming lakeside towns of Empire, Glen Arbor, Beulah and Frankfort. Toast s'mores around the fire pit as you enjoy breath-taking sunset views over the lake. Swim, fish, boat or just listen to the loons call as you relax in the hammock at the water's edge. Little Platte Lake is a beautiful 805 acre lake with a clear, sandy bottom and quiet natural beauty. It is great for fishing, swimming, and boating (3 kayaks and rowboat included with rental as well as a nearby boat launch). The home is in a wooded area, adjacent to the awesome Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lake shore with its world-famous 'Dune Climb' and Pierce Stocking Scenic Drive. The white sand beaches of Lake Michigan are just 5 minutes away, in addition to fantastic hiking and biking, canoeing/tubing the Platte and Betsie Rivers, golf/ski, area wineries, the Cherry Bowl Drive-In theater, mini-golf. Cottage Details: The large island kitchen was recently renovated and includes hardwood floors, built-in microwave, stove, oven, refrigerator, and ceiling fans. It is fully equipped with coffee maker, toaster, dishes, utensils and cookware. The dining area overlooks the lake with expansive picture windows and seating for 6 people. The bathroom was completely renovated in 2007 with a new stall shower, toilet, sink and flooring. The master bedroom has a queen size bed, the 2nd bedroom has one set of bunk beds and a twin bed and also has a TV with DVD/VCR, and the third bedroom has a double bed. The spacious family room has a large denim sofa and matching love seat, wood burning stove, TV with DVD and large windows with lake views.

Outdoor Amenities: Outdoor amenities include 2 decks, a charcoal grill, patio furniture, and picnic table. There is a hammock, fire pit, and dock. The use of 3 kayaks and an aluminum rowboat is included with the rental. The nice sized yard is grassy down to the waters' edge.

Cottage was clean, comfortable, and well equipped - kitchen and bath were like new. Yard was wooded and had great access to the dock and lake. Lots of things to do in the surrounding area including Sleeping Bear Dunes park and canoeing/tubing Platte River. Little Platte Lake is very quiet and it was the perfect place to relax. Television did not work (recent switchover to digital?) but who cares?
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Adventure Seekers, Girls Getaway, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway
Owner's Response: Thanks for the nice review! Just for information, the TV does now work but because the cottage is in a remote area, reception is sparse to none. The DVD/VCR players for both TVs do work.

What a great cottage!

Our family had one of the most relaxing vacations ever! Lying in the hammock with a cool breeze off the lake was something we all enjoyed. The kayaks were a hit as well as fishing right off the dock! The lake is quiet - no speedboats and very scenic. The area offers so much to do from shopping, beaches, drive-in movies to hiking, canoeing, etc. The wildlife is amazing. We saw a bald eagle fly right off the lake over the cottage. We heard loons everyday and even saw a pair on the lake near the kayaks. The cottage really made us feel at home and was clean, decorated well and stocked with games, books and all the kitchen supplies you need to cook your meals. You will not be disappointed if you book this cottage for your family trip. We will definitely book again!

What a RETREAT!

I would highly recommend this cottage! From the serene setting to the clean and inviting cottage decor - this was by far an ideal place to stay and all in the middle of great places to see and fun to be had. The lake was calm most of the time, with mainly fishing boats or pontoons - no speedboats to disturb our quiet moments in the hammock. Blue Herons flew over the glassy water, while fish waited for our bait under it! We shopped the unique towns close by, and relaxed on the beautiful carribean-colored beaches. We took the kids to the Cherry Bowl drive-in for night time fun, then star gazed in the secluded backyard. We can't say enough about this refreshing get away! Definitely a home run for our family!

Thank you for the use of your very comfortable and homey cottage. Love the blue denim couches and big red flowered chair! The remodeling that you've been doing is wonderful. The kayaks were an extra bonus. We had a lot of fun with them and the rowboat...so nice of you to include them. We're familiar with the area and it was nice to be close to all the places we love to visit, but it was also good to come back to such a great place. We spent a lot of time right there at the cottage.

This place is a nature-lover's paradise. Imagine floating on a kayak at sunset watching the swans gliding across the lake -- getting up in the early morning to hear the lonely wail of the loons. We saw turtles nesting in the backyard, had bonfires and roasted marshmallows, and took bike rides on dirt roads. And, there are all of the unbelievably wonderful sights to see nearby--tubing at the Platte River, riding the Benzie Valley bike trail, and, of course, the Sleeping Bear Dunes. This place is so peaceful, breathtakingly beautiful, and calm that I hope it remains a little bit of a secret!
