Photos and Description of this Albuquerque holiday house 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms

The Old Town house in the museum district is an authentic adobe, built c. 1902. A recent complete systems update adds modern comfort to the rustic Southwestern charm of this old territorial style house. Across the street from Tiguex Park, and about a block and a half from historic Old Town Plaza, the location is unmatched. Three bedrooms and two baths accommodate 6 (2 queen beds and 1 full bed). The en suite master bath features a claw foot tub, the second bedroom has a gas kiva fireplace, and soft lighting is achieved in all three bedrooms with chandeliers. An open floor plan connects the living room and kitchen. All kitchen appliances are stainless. An adjoining sitting room (with its own kiva fireplace) allows views of the park through a side lit French door. The dining room seats 6 comfortably. With original wood floors, beamed ceilings, and foot thick walls, this house evokes the romance of the Old West, and is a fantastic base for your Albuquerque adventures.

The house fronts Old Town Rd., a quiet street bordering Tiguex Park. The park is a place of towering cottonwoods, grassy fields, and a first rate playground. This is a walking neighborhood, with people out with strollers and dogs into the evening hours. Immediately across the park are several museums (Art and History, Science and Natural History, and Explora - the children's science museum). Excellent restaurants and interesting shopping are within leisurely walking distance. The Albuquerque Biological Park, including the zoo, aquarium and botanical gardens, is a short drive away. Logistics are easy, with a short ride from the airport, a mile and a half to the train station and Convention Center, and about 1 hour to Santa Fe. Albuquerque was recently ranked one of the five best cities in the U.S. to live in. The culture in the area is amazing and there is always something of interest going on. Come and enjoy!

Duke City FIx: For a daily dose of Albuquerque pictures (as well as local commentary), see the Duke City Fix web site. Photos are posted on the Albuquerque Photo Gallery near the top of the DCF home page. People post new ones daily, and there are often spectacular shots of the Albuquerque scenery.

A Couple of Restaurants: Here are a couple of local restaurants of note (there are many other fabulous ones in Old Town, and throughout Albuquerque, but these are a couple of my favorites): The St. Claire Winery and Bistro - great food, often live music, and local New Mexico wines. About a five minute drive (with traffic). For those who are eating gluten free, try Paisano's. Yes, gluten free Italian, and it is wonderful. Seasons - within walking distance - upscale, great food, good service

Perfect location!

LYO Merced, CA
Review Submitted: October 27, 2009 Date of Stay: October 2009
This was the ideal home for our 5-day stay in Albuquerque. The home is open, airy, comfortable and beautiful. The location was perfect for us. For the adults, Old Town is a short walk away and for the little ones, Tiguex Park is literally across the street while The Explora Science Center and Children's Museum is right around the corner. This home is in a safe, quiet neighborhood, offers a wonderful back yard and patio and has everything one needs to relax. We will not hesitate to book this property again and we thank Carol for opening up her lovely home to us.

Great place for gathering

sregiaco Galesburg, IL
Review Submitted: July 17, 2008 Date of Stay: June 2008
This house was charming from top to bottom. It was exactly what I expected. It felt like something you would find in Napa Valley - the difference being the accent of chilies in stead of grapevines and the cozy addition of the kiva fireplaces. It was the perfect place for my friends and I to gather for a small reunion while we attended a friends wedding. It was clean and the location was very quiet and peaceful. You can see several of the Albuquerque museums (And Tiagua Park) from the front door yet you do not loose the feeling that you are in a residential neighborhood. It is a stone's throw from the shops in Old Town with plenty of local artisans and restaurants within walking distance.

The owner seems to travel frequently or I just happened to catch her near vacation time. She always responded to my questions & messages but sometimes it took a while to hear back from her - but when I did, she was always very helpful and courteous.

My one word of caution is that the streets of Old Town Albuquerque are covered with crawling bugs. Big ones. Even though the night air is enchanting in the desert, if you visit in the summertime, I suggest sleeping with the windows shut and the air on instead. That being said, I am still giving this place five stars since it is a city problem and not the fault of the owner.

Now, if one morning you find that you don't want to make breakfast be sure to check out the Church Street Cafe behind San Felipe de Neri Church. If it's warm enough, ask to sit outside in the back garden near the coi pond. Everything we had there was delicious. We went there twice during our three day stay.

If I ever return to Albuquerque I would be pleased to stay here again.

a Home Away from Our Home

toga Saratoga Springs, NY
Review Submitted: March 19, 2008 Date of Stay: February 2008
My first time experience with HomeAway was a most pleasant one. After searching on the internet for a rental property in Albuquerque NM, which for me was a new concept, I found my way to the perfect fit for our month long stay. The historic adobe in Old Town was better than we could have imagined. You always go into these "unknowns" holding your breath. This was such a nice surprise.
First, the house lived up to its description. It had the charm of yesterday and updates to make it warm and comfortable. The Kiva fireplaces were kept busy as we were there in February and kept us very warm and cozy. The layout of the house allowed for many a delightful night for family dinners and visiting friends. Bedrooms were large and outfitted with beautiful linens. The bathrooms were updated...loved the clawfoot tub in the master bathroom...and the kitchen a delight to work in and very well equipped. The condition of the house was very clean and well maintained.
Although we did not get a chance to truly enjoy the backyard because of the cold weather, I can only imagine leisurely hours of reading, relaxing and outdoor barbeques in a vey peaceful setting.
The convenience of the location was a big perk. Old Town was a stones throw away. The shops and restaurants abundant. A beautiful park across the street was constantly filled with the sounds of children having fun. I took my grandson out for daily three mile walks, which we both enjoyed and felt very safe in the neighborhood at night.
Carol, the owner, was very accommodating and helpful throughout the process.
I would highly recommend a stay in this lovely old adobe to anyone visiting the area. I will myself revisit in a warmer month so that I can experience the whole package!
