Photos and Description of this Begur holiday house

Our holiday home called La Chumbera, „Der Kaktus“, lies in the older urbanization of Begur, at a walking distance of approx. 10 minutes from the town, in the midst of lovely pines. A pleasant climate prevails even in midsummer. The car is parked in the garden; there is a big seating arrangement with gas barbecue in front of the house. The house has 3 double bedrooms each having a bathroom with WC/shower. The living room is very bright and spacious and the kitchen with dishwasher, big refrigerator, baking oven, microwave, several crockery/pans offers great comfort. 1 big room is separately located in the lower part and different parties can also be celebrated together and enjoyed without any problems, e.g. parents with children and grandparents etc. The washing machine and “Tumbler“ is placed in the big bathroom next door. There are 4 bikes provided for the athletics. There is a seating place behind the house for sunbathing, without view. The house is quietly located but not secluded!

Begur is an old, small town with a truly romantic Spanish charm. As there are no big hotels you feel immediately at home and welcome here. There are various smaller restaurants, pizzerias, bars etc. in the town center and there are of course several options for shopping. There are various attractions in the village square every Wednesday evening. From a small hill one has a wonderful panoramic view extending up to Bay of Roses, Bay of pals, L'Estartit (diving paradise) or to several small bays, which can be quickly reached by car. There is a riding facility in the outskirts, a small, very beautiful swimming pool with tennis court can also be found in the vicinity, as well as a Gokarting track. Enjoy a quiet evening at home and possibly listen to the sounds of crickets, however, Begur offers an attractive night life which lasts till the early morning, therefore the young guests do not miss out on anything.

Notes: 'La Chumbera' is a holiday home easily accessible to the handicapped (the owner is himself confined to a wheelchair), with every comfort in the kitchen having several appliances and crockery and dishwasher, microwave and a lot more. There is seating and dining place for 8 persons in the eat-in kitchen. The house has three double bedrooms, each having a private bath with WC/shower and mirrored cabinet, hence, there is no rush for the bathroom in the morning. Parents, older children, grandparents can, if desired, be alone in the spacious room in the lower part of the house. New bed linen / bath linen can be rented at the house. The washing machine and tumble dryer is valuable in case of a longer stay as it ensures that the laundry does not pile up. The seating place under the large sun umbrella has a gas grill and, if need be, offers various options for sunbathing/idling in the sun-lounge. You can enjoy the glorious summer evening here (without mosquitoes), it is quiet and relaxing.

Care at Home: Our housekeeper, Mr Georg Forsthuber, lives almost around the corner for the care of our holiday home. Born an Austrian, he has worked for a long time in Switzerland, and now after an early retirement is based permanently in Begur and can help you solve almost all the problems in and out of the house, or solicit help, so that you can enjoy a carefree holiday under all circumstances. He can communicate well in both German and Spanish. He can ceratinly show you some sights in the interiors or on the coast!

Golf: Large golf course in Pals, 1992 Olympics, there is a golf course close to the sea as well!

Wir, drei Erwachsene, waren im September 2008 für 2 Wochen im Ferienhaus La Chumbera. Die Ausstattung und das Ambiente haben unsere Erwartungen voll erfüllt. Auch der Verwalter vor Ort ist sehr nett und hilfsbereit. Die nähere und weitere Gegend um Begur ist mit seinen wunderschönen Buchten, abwechslungsreichen Landschaften und Sehenswürdigkeiten sehr zu empfehlen. Wir haben uns rundum wohlgefühlt und den Urlaub sehr genossen.

Wir waren 3 Wochen im Haus "La Chumbera" und konnten uns richtig erholen. Es ist ruhig aber nicht zu sehr vom Schuß gelegen. Die Ausstattung ist überdurchschnittlich. Einfach alles da was man braucht. Große Terrasse vorm Haus und eine kleinere hinterm Haus. Dazu noch eine freundliche Betreung über email mit dem Vermieter und auch vor Ort mit dem "Verwalter".

Hallo! Wir 4, das sind Steffi und Bina mit unseren Eltern, haben dieses im katalanischen Stil eingerichtete schöne Ferienhaus drei Wochen besucht. Es hat uns richtig gut gefallen. Es gab genügend Platz für alle, das Haus war sauber und ordentlich und die Ausstattung hat keine Wünsche offen gelassen.Es war alles so wie angegeben. Der Garten war urig klasse und die hügelige Lage mitten in einem Pinienwald gibt für jeden etwas her: Sonne, Schatten ganz so, wie man mag. Die Landschaft und die Gegend sind sehr abwechslungsreich, manchmal atemberaubend. Es gibt viel Natur, Berge, Ebenen, Sandstrände, Steilküsten und natürlich das kristallklare Meer. Sehr beeindruckt haben uns die alten Gemäuer und Orte, die wir nach kurzer Autofahrt alle zu Fuß erkundet haben. Von diesen Orten haben uns Pals (tolle uralte Stadt), Torroella d. Montgri (wegen der Burg), La Bisbal (viel Keramik und antike Sachen) und Girona (einfach sehenswert) am besten gefallen. Das Städtchen Begur ist auch sehr schön. Man kann es für kleinere Einkäufe gut zu Fuß erreichen, der Markt einmal in der Woche ist übrigens klasse, und es gibt ganz in der Nähe vom Haus sogar ein kleines Freibad. Wir waren allerdings immer im herrlichen Meer schwimmen. Ein Besuch bei "Cactus Costa Brava" ist nicht ohne Folgen geblieben: wir mussten einfach ein paar von den unzähligen, wunderschönen Kakteen kaufen. Wie man sieht, kann man hier vieles machen, es gibt viel zu sehen, aber man kann auch einfach nur faulenzen und die Ruhe am Ferienhaus genießen und z. B. abends auf der geräumigen Terrasse bei einem Glas Wein (natürlich nur für die Erwachsenen) die Sterne beobachten. Alles in allem: es war prima!
