Enclosed north and east by the sea, Dénia strikes the visitor as an up-to-date, lovely little town. It has all the flair of a sea-side resort (20 km of sandy beach) and all the business sense of a mature Spanish town with lots of small shops, good medical facilities, markets and a fishing harbour. Dénia has the most varied gastronomy on the Costa Blanca. The Roman-Moorish castle, 58 m high above the town, was ruined in the 15th century, rebuilt in the 16th and 18th century and has been constantly restored since. There’s an archaeological museum inside with ceramics and relics from various centuries. Discover the rocky bays of 'Les Rotes', 'L'Aigua Dolça' and 'La Cova Tallada' or the 'Montgó' mountain (751 metres). Enjoy the panorama from the castle above the town as far as Las Marinas. 'Cova Tallada' cave ends in the sea (150 metres deep).
