Rural, peaceful, this holiday apartment contains two apartments lies about 15 km north west of Broadway, west of the Hudson River, in a peaceful, secure, ‘European’ neighbourhood with good train, bus and road connections to New York. It is neither in the city or the State of New York. To get to New York, just take a bus – no need to change – and in 35 minutes you’ll be at the ‘Port Authority’ Central Bus depot on Broadway. The last bus leaves ‘Port Authority’ at 1 am, and you’ll be back home by about 1.45 am. From listening to the guests it seems that the real charm of the house is returning to such a rural, peaceful and comfortable place after the bustle of New York. To arrive at this house in Garfield via JFK or Newark (EWR) airports. EWR is quite close by. A taxi takes around 20 minutes and costs about $50. From JFK the drive takes about one hour and costs around $120. Alternatively, take the airport bus (approx $13) to Port Authority, then bus #161 to Saddle Brook Center.

The two room holiday apartment is the converted loft of the house. It takes 1 – 3 persons. The floor area is 50 m2; a large living room (which has space for an extra bed) with open-plan kitchen, a bedroom with two beds, a shower bath with WC. The apartment is fully furnished and equipped (radio, TV, telephone, permanent internet connection, Cooker hot plates, microwave, toaster, coffee machine, fridge with freezer shelf etc and hair dryer. There is central heating and air conditioning. The cellar contains a washing machine and tumbler. Washing powder is provided.

The town of Garfield is one of the many ‘suburbs’ of New York, in New Jersey, in New York’s ‘leafy fringe’ on the western bank of the Hudson River. Garfield is a ‘European’ town. In and around the town you’ll find every kind of shopping in massive shopping centres. A modern ‘corner shop’ only 5 minutes away on foot is open 24 hours. The Golden Eagle, a polish delicatessen with hot food to take away, is also nearby. Good Fellas, a very good Italian restaurant, is only 1 minute away on foot, and Fire House, a decent everyday restaurant, only 5 minutes away on foot. There is also a medical center nearby (449 Market Street, Saddlebrook N.J., Tel: 1-201-721 7900; Monday – Friday 9 am – 7 pm).

Driving directions from the airport 4 taxi driver: Driving directions for public transportation: the airport train to the Jamaica station (free of charge), take the metro line E ($7 at the machine) to Port Authority - or - airport bus ($13 - buy in the bus) to Port Authority then take Bus # 161 at gate 303 to the stop 'Saddle Brook Center (by Walmart) - Route 46 cross the pedestrian bridge - 5th street to President Street - right on to President Street - right onto Midland Ave - left onto Plauderville Ave - 12th house on the left (154 Plauderville Ave.)

Connection to Manhattan: The bus station 'Saddle Brook Center' for bus # 161 - N.J. transit is 10 minutes from the house. This bus leaves every 15-30 minutes without stops - about 30 minutes to Manhattan to 'Port Authority' (central bus station 43rd/8th). The stop is shown as 3A on the drawing. During the drive you do not go across Route 46. When you come back from N.Y., get off the bus at the 'Saddle Brook Center' (not Garfield) bus stop, cross over Route 46 with the pedestrian bridge, go on 5th Street to President Street, go right on President Street to Midland Ave - go right on Midland Ave, over the train tracks and left onto Plauderville Ave. That is the fastest and cheapest connection to N.Y. The train stop 'Plauderville' (Mail Line/Bergen County Line/NJ Transit) is three minutes from the house. From there you drive 40 minutes through Hoboken and further to Manhattan with the path (33th).

Wenn ihr einmal abseits der Hochglanz Prospekte jener Hotelketten , euren Aufenthalt in New York genießen wollt, dann seit ihr im Ferienhaus Garfield nicht nur Preisgünstig sondern auch ideal aufgehoben/untergebracht.
Bereits die Terminabsprache zeugt von sehr viel Kompetenz und Freundlichkeit jedem einzelnem Gast gegenüber.
Dann, erst einmal angekommen im Haus, werdet ihr von der ersten Minute an, fürsorglich von eurer Gastgeberin mit allem versorgt was ihr für einen erlebnisreichen Aufenthalt in New York benötigt,
alle hilfreichen Information rund um New York und dessen Aufenthalt bekommt ihr hier aus ersten Hand und kostenlos!
Die Wohnung ist voll ausgestattet mit allem was ihr benötigt, Radio, TV
Kostenlosen W-lan Zugang und bietet durch seine ruhige Lage und dem großen Garten ,nach einem Aufregenden und Erlebnisreichen Tag in der City eine wunderbare Möglichkeit ,seiner Seele und seinen Füssen die Kraft zurück zugeben die ihr für den nächsten aufregenden Tag in New York braucht. Von hieraus könnt ihr , (gerade im Indian Summer) mit einem Leihwagen sehr gute Ausflüge machen um den Bundesstaat NY besser kennen zu lernen.
Das Ferienhaus “Garfield” mit all seinen Annehmlichkeiten, ist uneingeschränkt zu Empfehlen.

Das Haus war sauber und die Wohnung bot viel Platz. Bahn und Bus sind schnell zu erreichen. Die Wegbeschreibung war sehr zuverlässig und ließ sich leicht verfolgen. In der Wohnung findet sich alles was für ein paar Tage gebraucht wird. Selbst Fön und Reisestecker sind vorhanden. In näherer Umgebung finden sich auch diverse Restaurants und kleinere Einkaufsmöglichkeiten. Von der Bushaltestelle nur ein paar Minuten entfernt findet man auch einen großen Supermarkt wo es fast alles gibt was auf der Reise gefehlt haben könnte

Insgesamt fühlten wir uns super aufgehoben und würden jederzeit wieder hinfahren
