Palazzo Massi is situated directly on the main square in the medieval village of Cossignano. This charming, tranquil hamlet is off the main tourist routes. Located high on the hillside, 400 metres above sea level, it offers wonderful panoramic views of Gran Sasso (Abruzzi) and the Sibylline mountains, across to the Adriatic Sea, just 15 minutes drive away. Visitors can savour authentic Italian life here. A variety of excursions can be undertaken to enjoy the area's rich culture (Ascoli Piceno, Offida,Fermo etc.), the picturesque countryside of the Sibylline national parks and the nearby Adriatic Sea. Palazzo Massi with its old stonewalls and vaulted ceilings was formerly the residence of the Italian nobility. The accommodation consists of a spacious living-room with an open fireplace and frescoed ceiling (40 m2), 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a kitchen. The property now belongs to the Massi family, who run a small wine-cellar nearby offering organically produced wines.

Situated at 400 metres above sea level on the peak of the hill, the medieval village of Cossignano (1000 inhabitants) still has pleasant temperatures even in the height of summer thanks to the refreshing breeze typical of the area. The hamlet is nestled among the beautiful hilly countryside of the Marches where wine and olives are cultivated. Palazzo Massi stands on the main square of the old town directly adjacent to the church, the town hall, a bakery and a small bar. Two supermarkets, the butcher's, a delicatessen specialising in homemade pasta ant the chemist's are just a 3 minute walk away. Fresh vegetables and fish are available from the market which visits the piazza twice a week. Guests can choose between local restaurants which offer a range of authentic dishes and specialities at reasonable prices or take the 15 minute journey down to the coast where numerous restaurants serve excellent fish.

Additional information about rental rates

  • When you use the central heating (in the cold period) we ask for 50 Euros extra per week. For final cleaning we take 50 Euros. A security deposit (250 Euros) is required and will be paid locally. Bed linen, towels and tablecloth are included. Weekly change of towels and linen. To confirm the booking a deposit of 30% of the total price has to be paid. The balance must be paid by arrival at Palazzo Massi, at the first day of vacation. Cancellation will result in the loss of the deposit.
    The price per week is for 6 people. Extra person pays 10 Euros per day. Children under 3 years free.
    Maximal 8 people can have place in the flat.
  • Arrival on Saturday (after 4 p.m.). Departure on Saturday (by 10 p.m.). During low season flexible arrival/departure possible.

This is a lovely apartment in a delightful small, hilltop town. We enjoyed our stay and were quite comfortable. The village is charming and close to other hill towns to visit. It is helpful to speak at least some Italian, but help is just a phone call away, if needed. The bar next door has internet service and serves good food also. The owners were very friendly and accommodating. We would recommend this apartment for those visiting the area.

"Wer einmal mitten drin sein will, in einem offenbar noch klassischen
italienischen Ort, mit all den typischen Begebenheiten die eine eben italienische Piazza bietet, ist hier richtig. Man braucht nur die Fenster des geräumigen Wohnzimmers zu öffnen und hat schon das Leben, natürlich geprägt durch die Nachbarschaft zu Kirche, Rathaus,Postamt und nicht zu vergessen der Espresso-Bar, hör- und spürbar in der Wohnung.Die Leute sind sehr freundlich und grüßen schon herauf wenn man nur zum Fenster heraus schaut. Genau so wird man beim Bäcker (gleich um die Ecke), im Lebensmittelladen und im Pastageschäft (sehr gute frische Nudeln) auf eine nette und typische Art bedient, auch wenn man nicht perfekt italienisch spricht. Die Betreuung insbesondere nach der An- und vor der Abreise durch Familie Massi war sehr herzlich. Die Wohnung befand sich einem sehr gepflegten Zustand und man findet einiges zur Zerstreuung in punkto Musik und Bücher. So ergibt sich eine sehr schöne Kombination die unserem Interesse am echtem italienischem Leben eine unvergessliche Erinnerung geschenkt hat".

Eine Adresse, die man weiterempfehlen kann

Eine Wohnung authentisch, so wie in FeWo-direkt beschrieben. Es war noch viel besser als wir es erwartet haben. Alles sehr sauber und gut eingerichtet. Die Vermieterin sowie die vor Ort lebende Familie waren sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Wir waren mit unseren Kindern (Teens) hier. Es hat wirklich allen super gefallen. Wir werden bestimmt noch einmal wiederkommen. Die Strände in San Benedetto oder Grottamare hat man mit dem PKW in ca. 20 min. erreicht. Auf dem Heimweg haben wir im Supermarkt Lebensmittel eingekauft, die in etwa dem deutschen Preisniveau. Sehr gute und auch günstige Restaurants haben wir vor Ort oder im näheren Umfeld vorgefunden. Ganz besonders gut hat uns die italiensche Atmosphäre des Dorfes Cossignano gefallen, wo wir durchweg auf freundlich Mitmenschen gestoßen sind. Auch die kulturellen Festivitäten im Dorf haben einen bleibenden Eindruck hinterlassen. Zudem ein Urlaub frei von Touristenströmen. Kurzum: Italien, wie es schöner nicht sein konnte!

unverbrauchtes Italien

Nach 4 Jahren Toskana-Urlaub haben wir uns wieder den Marken zugewandt und im Palazzo Massi in Cossignano einen wunderbaren Urlaub verlebt. Wir fühlten uns nach dem herzlichen Empfang gleich geborgen und diese Herzlichkeit schlug uns nicht nur von den Vermietern entgegen, sondern auch im Tante Emma Laden, beim Bäcker oder in der Bar bei Fabio. Es ist schön, nicht auf Schritt und Tritt Landsleuten zu begegnen sondern zwischen Italienern zu sitzen und vom herumgereichten Teller mit Antipasti zu kosten. Alles gut bezahlbar (auch im Gegensatz zur Toskana). Das Meer in greifbarer Nähe, wunderbare Restaurants und gute Weine, was will man mehr. Die Ferienwohnung im ersten Haus am Platz ist sauber und großzügig bemessen, die Kinder haben es genossen. Alles in allem, unbedingt empfehlenswert - aber lasst uns auch noch 2 Wochen im nächsten Sommer.
