Stunning Elba seaside villa apartment on Procchio Bay
The Tonnara di Bagno, on the splendid island of Elba, is an historic converted Tuna Fishery dating 1840. It is 2 km from the famous harbour town of Marciana Marina and 3 km from the fabulous sandy Procchio beach. Converted into just 3 apartments of which two have same owner, the one offered is the second largest (110 sq meters plus 65 sq m. of terraces and sundecks). The Tonnara sits on a small rocky promontory, just 8 meters above the sea, and is flanked by two beaches, one pebbles, one rocky, renowned for the incredible transparency of the water. The Tonnara is surrounded by a private park which includes an old Fisherman's Chapel. This stunning apartment has just been totally renovated with new kitchen and bathrooms and a brand new private sunbathing terrace facing the east beach. The Tonnara di Bagno is located 2 km from the famous fishing village of Marciana Marina, which rests below the 1000 meter high Monte Capanne on the northwest side, the chic side, of Elba. 3 km to the east of the house is the splendid sandy beach of Procchio. The house juts out on a rocky promontory only a few feet above the crystalline waters of the Procchio gulf. The Island of Elba is located in Tuscany and, besides the sea, it is famous for its minerals, archaeological sites, Napoleon's house, the wines, and fantastic cuisine. Marciana has 3 three star restaurants. Elba's airport links the island with Munich, Florence, England, etc. Pisa International airport is an hour away from the ferry landing in Piombino, Florence an hour and a half from same. The apartment and it's position allows for sunning on you vast private terrace, strolling to the beach below via short private walkway (20 ft) and the choice of two beaches one totally private (sun morning to 2 pm) the other semi private.

Early and high season are fantastic on this, the north side of the island, where the sun is not so relentless as to be ideal only for the lizard in us. Off season can be enchanting year round, with months march trough November perfectly comfortable due to special Elba weather (very little rain), a quick trip to the south of the island, only 15 minutes away can assure swimming conditions even in January.

| Notes: | The apartment has three terraces, a small one with two chairs adjoining the west bedroom, a large one, 25sqm, adjoining the double bed room and the living room, equipped for dining and entertaining outdoors, and a 60 square meters sunning terrace on the east side, all of them with spectacular views of the Procchio Bay. A large living room with split level kitchen and indoor dining area also commands spectacular views. Private walkways lead to the two beaches, pebbles on the west side and rocks on the east. The sea is 8 meters away! At night you can enjoy sleeping while hearing the surf wash on shore, really relaxing and enchanting. The house was built in 1840 as a tuna fishing house and is surrounded by a protected national land and sea park. The Tonnara house is divided in only three apartments two of which are owned by our family, the second largest apartment is the one offered. The west beach, named Bagno is public but never crowded, even in August, and frequented by quiet families. |
Tonnara privacy is shere magic
The Tonnara di Bagno assures wonderful privacy in the villa and on the beach. The west beach is never overly crowded, even in the highest seasons and the guests have their own beach accesses and sunning terraces, all literally a few feet from the water, allowing guests to spend their holidays in the truest sense of exclusive privacy - which becomes magic in the late evenings when you will spend looking out on the fantastic view of the Procchio Gulf, alone or entertaining your guests.
Shopping & Dining
Marciana Marina, only 2 km away, is one of the most charming and quietly exclusive harbour and fishing towns in Elba. Its Lungomare walkway is lined with boutiques and charming specialty stores. Fresh fish can be bought directly from the fishermen from the peer at about 11:00 am every morning. If you like to ride a bike the ride into town is quite easy with only one short climb right out of the town (but do look out for cars, the island roads are rather narrow--we recommend you escort small children at all times on the provincial road...once in town you can safely give them the run of the place as most of the town is closed to traffic in summer evenings). In the apartment you will find information on the local restaurants. On the Capanna Mountain are two of the most splendid little hill towns in Italy, just 10 minutes from Marciana Marina, Marciana Alta and Poggio.
Private parking and easy access from road
The Tonnara has private parking for up to seven cars; two places (one large one compact car) are reserved for this apartment. Unlike many seaside Elba houses, the Tonnara di Bagno is quite close to where you will leave your car, about 35 ft, only about 20 steps.
