La Civitella looks back upon a long and dramatic history. It belonged to one of the most powerful feudal families of Italy- the Aldobrandeschi - the famous Dante wrote about. The house is perched on top of a hill with a breathtaking panorama view of the Tuscany mountains reaching to the sea, 35 km away. It is surrounded by 10 acres of land - olive groves, vineyards and beautiful old cork and evergreen holly oak trees. Beauty as far as the eye can see. The apartment 'Piano Nobile' is in the main tract of the castle which has been beautifully restored, preserving the traditional ambience with mostly rustic or antique furniture in the old Tuscan style but incorporating modern comfort to ensure a special holiday. This unique castle and its vast out-of-doors space resemble a fairy-tale world.

La Civitella is set on an isolated hill top, 2 km from Roccastrada, a typical medieval village still retaining its charm and original character. Surrounded by protected river reserves and wildlife sanctuaries, this area offers the nature- lover an unlimited variety and adventure. The sea with its lovely white sand beaches and its beautiful Mediterranean islands are only a short drive (35 km) away. The nearby thermal bath, Petriolo, in conjunction with the Farma river valley offers the visitor a hot-cold swimming option. The castle is a perfect jump off point to explore the enchanting Tuscany. The culture highlights such as Siena, Florence, San Gimignano are easily accessible on good roads. Even Rome can be reached in 2 hours. Etruscan excavations and museums lie in the immediate vicinity. Culinary specialities from land and sea await your discovery. The famous vineyards of the king of Italian wine, the 'Brunello' can be seen from the castle.

Notes: The apartment 'Piano Nobile' is on two floors. The ground level entrance leads from your terrace to your large living/ dining- room. The large dining table seats 10 people, in the kitchen is a large open fire place which you can use to grill. Next to the living- room there is a bedroom with a double bed and an adjoining bathroom with shower. From the living/dining room you reach the second floor where you will find another double bed. From here you reach the third bedroom with a bunk bed for 2 kids as well as another bedroom. On top of this there is the possibility for a sofa bed in the ground floor living-room. Furthermore, it is possible to divide this apartment, so that only one bedroom is available. The apartment is ideally adaptable for 7- 2 people, but if more place is needed additional bedrooms can be arranged. Thus, large families, even wedding parties or romantic couples can find exactly what they wish.

Wir, 3 Erwachsene waren vom 21.09.09 - 28.09.09 eingemietet.
Jeder hatte sein eigenes Schlafzimmer. Sehr urige Unterkunft.
Das Objekt enspricht der Beschreibung.Ruhige Lage. Wir sind
über den Flughafen Rom angereist, trotz ca.2 Std. Fahrt auch
problemlos. Die Burg liegt sehr zentral, ca. 30Min. nach Siena, ca. 1 Std. nach Florenz, die herrlichen, flachen Sandstrände erreicht man in ca.30 Min. Also rundum zufrieden. Leider war das TV-Gerät nur für RAI Sender zu gebrauchen ( keine SAT-Empfang) was uns doch etwas irritierte, da wir keine deutschen, oder auch intern.Sender empfangen konnten.
Die Vermieter ( auch Eigentümer) zeigten sich sehr freundlich
und zuvorkommend. Einkaufsmöglichkeiten ca. 5km entfernt (Coop-Supermarkt).
Wenn wir wieder etwas in dieser Gegend suchen, würden wir erneut dieses Objekt mieten.

Es war wunderschön !

Wir ( 5 Personen - davon 3 Kinder im Alter von 10 bis 16 Jahren) verbrachten 14 Tage in dem urgemütlichen Ambiente. Die Eigentümer sind sehr freundlich. Bruno (der Vater der Vermieterin) hat uns mit sämtlichen Köstlichkeiten aus seinem Garten verwöhnt. Das waren leckere Tomaten, Feigen, Melonen und hausgemachtem Wein. Toskana, wir kommen wieder! . . . das war der Kommentar von Sandra . . . jetzt kommt noch bissl was nach von mir . . .Die wunderschöne Hügellage hat uns vor grösseren Stechmücken-Angriffen bewahrt. Der Weg zum Meer . . . bzw. zum wunderschönen Strand in Castglione della Pescaia war trotz ca. 40 Minuten Fahrzeit absolut empfehlenswert. Trotzdem wäre es das "Gelbe vom Ei", wenn evtl. in den nächsten Jahren ein eigener Pool auf dem Gelände entstehen könnte. Dies wäre der einzige Punkt, der bei dieser Bewertung zu einem "Ausgezeichnet gefehlt hat hrhafter Traum ist der Himmel über diesem Anwesen. Es war herrlich nach einem langen Tag mit Besuchen in der näheren Umgebung einfach im Bett zu liegen, das grosse"Kemenaten-Fenster"weit geöffnet zu haben und in den sternenübersähten Himmel zu blicken. Ich wünsche mir, dieses Gefühl konservieren zu können. Auch Roccastrada hatte einen besonderen Charme, eine typische liebevolle Bäckerei mit täglich neuen Überraschungen, ein "ehrlicher" Menschenschlag. TOP ist auch die zentrale Lage, wenn man Siena, San Gimignano oder Toskana pur erleben möchte. Florenz oder Pisa sind auch ohne Probleme erreichbar. Ich wäre jetzt, da ich diese Bewertung scheibe gerne wieder dort und würde den liebend gerne wieder diesen warmen Boden unter meinen Füssen spühren - - - DANKE ! . . . Mille Granzie !
