The history of the Villa Marmini:
The agritourism Villa Marmini is surrounded by greenery. It is among the few agritourisms which have a rich history. In 1732, the capitular Pietro Franceschini offered the community of Volterra a collection of urns, which had been unearthed by him. He also gave the community a place that belonged to him (House des Mamors, which is nowadays known as Marmini), which was located in the center of the Necropolis der Portone, probably one of the broadest burial areas in the antique Volterra. 2/3 of the urns from the Hellenistic Era and from the Imperial time of the Etruscans, exposed in the Museum Guarnacci are originally from that place. Unfortunately, there is very little evidence about the archaeological excavations. The only writings about them were made by local intellectuals or by amateurs. About the arrangement of the urns in tombs and about the belonging equipment, there was no documentation left.
