The region is famous for its different music festivals classical and jazz which attract musicians from all the world. You will find many antique fairs, local markets and wine festivals and tasting's which are well organized, which will help you to make your visit enjoyable and memorable. The region is famous for its 'cuisine'. Restaurants give extremely good value for money. Wide choice in the medieval 'Bastides' district. Bergerac has a Saturday morning market and it's pleasant to walk around. Périguex cathedral designed by the architect of Sacre Coeur in Paris is a beautiful backdrop to the Wednesday morning market and the town has some excellent food shops. Castillon la Bataille, place of the final great battle of the Hundred Years War. Reconstitution of the great battle in a great night spectacle every year in July and August. Visit to the vineyards of Monbazillac just outside Bergerac and a trip to St. Emilion make a good day out.
