The most beautiful golf club is located at the village Karnitz, about 8 km far. It is 6 km long and is equipped with 18 wholes. At the close sea there is the possibility of fishing. Among others you can catch big pikes. For swimming, bicycle rides, horse riding, tennis and hiking there are good opportunities close by.Day trips to the islands of Bornholm, Hiddensee, or the Hanseatic League cities of Greifswald and Stralsund are easily to organise. In the nearby town Putbus, you can take a ride with the historic little steam train 'The racing Roland', which connects the seaside resorts of Binz, Sellin, Baabe and Göhren. A ride with this train (we have bicycles for our houseguests for free) is a very special experience indeed! There are many possibilities for hiking and cycling through Rügen's unique landscape straight from the house. A canoe you can rent together with our vacation home (for a lump of 20 Euro)
Places of cultural interest of Rügen:
Departing from Zickeryou can reach nearly all excursion destinies within 30 to 45 minutes. The visit of the National Park Jasmund with the unique chalk cliff line and the 117 meters high “Königsstuhl” (a famous chalk ledge) is a must. We recommend as well a drive from Puttbus, the white town with the “Orlando Furioso” which takes you to the seaside resorts Binz, Göhren and Sellin with the famous lake bridge. Worth seeing is also the hunting lodge Granitz. In the fisher harbour Sassnitz you can buy fresh fish and even do a boat trip to Denmark. The most northern point of Rügen, the Cap Arkona, there are two lighthouses and the rest of the Slavic Jaromars Castle on a rock plateau. From the lighthouse of the car free isle of Hiddensee you can see a big part of Rügen and even the steeples of the old Hanseatic city Stralsund.
Arrival possiblities:
By car: Stralsund on the B96 over the Rügendamm. You turn right at the first traffic light/ crossing in the direction of Garz. Follow the signs “Glewitzer-Fähre” passing the towns Gustow, Poseritz and Zudar. By ferry: During the summer you can take the ferry (Car and people ferry Strahlbrode-Glewitz, Tel.: 0049/38304/66014). During the season – March to November – it goes every 20 minutes. From there you can reach the vacation home Zicker after only 3 km. By train: you can go to the train stations Stralsund (27 km), Bergen (20 km) or Samtes (15 km). In Stralsund you can rent a car (for example: Europcar). By plane: On the airport in Güttin (15 km) nearby Bergen sporting and private planes are allowed to land.
