The house is approx 10 minutes on foot from the picturesque town of Vaugines, 400 m above sea level (as established in Spring 2001). It is located on a 6,000 m² cliffside site in natural vegetation, behind the well-known Roman church of the 11th century used as background to the films Manon des Sources and Jean Florette with Yves Montand. Below the property flows a mountain stream all year long. A walker’s path goes past the property towards Luberon. The town of Vaugines is on the Castle Road in southern Luberon. In the town there is a grocery shop, a cafe, a pizzeria and a restaurant. The town has approx. 500 inhabitants. There is more shopping 2 km away in Cucuron and also 15 km away in Pertuis. The restaurants in surrounding towns such as Lourmarin, well known because of the Nobel prize winner Albert Camus, and Cadenet have fine regional cooking, referred to in the Michelin Guide.
