Photos and Description of this Chania holiday house

Nice and comfortably furnished apartment in a traditionally built house in a nature reserve. The walls are thick enough to keep the heath outside, the nature-stones look very beautiful, and there are only two apartments in this house. The little holiday village consists of only 12 houses and is situated on a gorge above the sea. All the year this gorge is full of flowers, and you can enjoy the view of the gorge as well as the view of the sea and of the White Mountains. It is only a short walk to two very good supermarkets, the bus stop, a special fine tavernas and the wonderful sandy beach. This beach is well protected because it is situated in a lovely bay, and it offers a lot: just relaxing and swimming, snorkelling to a small rocky island and even participating at diving lessons. Chania, former capital city and most beautiful city of Crete, is only 10 kilometres away. From here start excursions to all over island, you find a lot of shops, restaurants, bars, amusement, music...

This is the house for a bigger family or for 2 couples with their children. There is place enough for up to 6 persons and a baby. Each of the 2 sitting-rooms has a beautiful balcony, a nice dining-place, a comfortable bed-sofa, which easily changes to a comfortable bed for 2 persons, and a complete cooking-place with everything that you need, including a dishwasher. There are 2 bathings-rooms with a washing-machine in each of it. The 2 sleeping-rooms have very comfortable double-beds and very practical and nice cupboards, to put all your cloths in. Additional to the 2 balconies which are going to the west, there is one entrance-terrace, turning to east, and furthermore a big terrace turning to the west, which can be used from everybody of the 12 holiday-homes.. So, you can always have sun or shadow, whatever you lke!

Kalathas is situated on the Aktrotiri-Peninsula, 10 kilometres away from Chania, in the famous western part of Crete. Besides enjoying the beach and relaxing, you can go in for a lot of sports, and also make a many excursions, for example to the Lybian Coast, interesting towns and mountain villages, to famous ancient places (Knossos!) and excavations, the numerous gorges (Samaria!) and the mountains. From a little walk up to mountain climbing everything is possible - in the western part of Crete there are more than 20 summits higher than 2.000 metres! Many of the excursions you can do with very cheap public busses, for some it is better to rent a small car. Because Crete is an Island, you can also go for a lot of ship excursions, by sailing boats, glass-bottom boats or sightseeing boots. You will see, one holiday is not enough to enjoy only half of the most beautiful and interesting things in Crete!

  • Besides the 2 sleeping-rooms, each for 2 persons, in each of the 2 siiting-rooms there is a comfortable bed-sofa, which easily changes to a comfortable bed for 2 persons. But all together there should not be more than 6 persons and a baby in the house. For children up to about 3 years you will find a special bed, free of charge. Both bathing-rooms have a shower-cabin, something what is very normal at home, but not in Greece! On the lovely Island of Crete you can swim in the sea from April up to the middle or end of November, and even in wintertime, there are often about 20 degrees of Celsius. In spite of this, the house has a very good central heating, in case you like to come very early or very late in the year. Believe me, Crete is beautiful all the time - green, and full of flowers!

Tips for your arrival: You can fly directly to Chania or as well to Heraklion, the main city. From Heraklion to Chania runs a bus every 30 minutes, but you can also rent a car, and they will bring to the airport - to Chania or to Heraklion. If you are interested, we can give you the addresses of very good and not expensive car-renting companies. You can also fly to Athens. From there you will have a flight with 'Aegean Air' to Chania or Heraklion 4 to 6 times a day. It takes about 45 minutes and costs about 50 EUR.
