In the hills overlooking the Tiber valley, with views over Umbria as far as the Appenines, in the midst of vineyards and olive groves lies our country house. It is well located, 5 minutes from Highway A1 and superstrada E45, 35 minutes by train from Rome - ideal for daily visits both to Umbria (to visit Perugia, Todi, Orvieto, Assisi) and Alto Lazio (Viterbo, Caprarola, Bolsena, Civita di Bagnoreggio) and even Pompei or Hercolanum during the day. Hot springs are about 18 km away. The house has about 6 double rooms and 5 bathrooms, wooden furniture for the garden, a big living kitchen with a table for 12 people, a piano, an internet connection and a DVD player.

Orte is a medieval hill town located on the border of Umbria and Lazio just a few kilometers from the geographic center of Italy. It sits right at the junction of the A1 Autostada (the main north-south toll road from Naples to Milano via Rome, Florence and Bologna) and the E45 Superstrada (the main East-West freeway from Viterbo to Venice via Todi, Perugia and Rimini). Moreover, Orte is a main stop on Italy's most important train route from Sicily to Paris, served by the EuroStar, InterCity trains and dozens of local lines. Termini, Rome's main train station, is a quick 45-minute ride from Orte with a choice of more than 20 trains a day. Yet as central as it is, Orte remains a small, traditional hill town virtually unchanged for hundreds of years. The local residents have roots that go back many generations, and life here is lived at a slow, leisurely pace.
