Mount Bellew is a quiet market town 45km from Galway on the N63 to Roscommon. It is situated by the River Shiven, which provides some excellent fly fishing for brown trout. The town also has a fine 18-hole golf course, set amongst some beautifully wooded scenery. This was once the home of the Grattan-Bellew family, famous Galway parliamentarians during the 18th and 19th centuries. Their demesne is now a delightful wooded area of forest walks and picnic areas, filled with interesting historical items. The village bridge also contains a rare milestone inserted in the middle of its parapet. Ideal location for enjoying the Galway Races in August, visiting seaside beaches at Salthill Galway & Strandhill Sligo. Explore the rugged Connermara countryside, tour the lough corrib lake and discover for yourselves the splendid views from Galway Bay. Go to the remote Arran Islands and watch the sunset on the Atlantic Ocean.

Notes: Mrs Murphy’s Cottage, is a delightful 3-bedroom family home which has been modernised to a very exacting standard, from the solid oak hand-built fitted kitchen with ceramic butler sink, a bright sun-lit front living room with luxury Tetrad quality sofa and solid-fuel burning stove, to the impeccable luxury bathroom with walk-in shower equipped with rain-bar, body jets & choice of shower heads. The kitchen has a beautiful porcelain tiled floor, and wooden flooring is fitted through the hall & all the bedrooms, with pine doors. Mrs Murphy’s Cottage was our family home in Ireland, it is kept spotlessly clean & you will find inside it all the comforts you would expect in your own home. We use it as our own holiday home, and have decided to now let it as such to other discerning families. We are a non-smoking family and have a strictly NO SMOKING policy on our premises.

Guest Feedback Summer 2008: We have received some excellent and very encouraging feedback from our guests in our first year of renting Mrs Murphy's Cottage and are in the process of requesting written reviews from them. Also, our guest book in the cottage is filled with details of how much our guests have enjoyed staying in our home. Whilst we await the formal written reviews, here are some of the email comments we have received from our guests after their holidays in our home in Ireland: 'I just wanted to thank you for letting us stay in your cottage in Mountbellew. We had a wonderful time.'... Emily & Daniel, USA. 'Yes the cottage was perfect for our needs & thanks again for everything.' ... Nicole, 'Your house is quite lovely. We enjoyed our stay very much. It was a convenient and very short distance from the town.... We will look forward to staying with you again when next we come to care for Uncle.'... Joe, USA

Guest Feedback Continued: 'Your house is gorgeous and I just had to say that the pictures on the rental website just don't do it justice. It was lovely to stay in such a well appointed and organised house - we appreciated the information on the little stickers in the kitchen cupboards and on the doors.'... Rebecca & Martin, England, UK.

To All Our Guests: We would like to extend a warm THANK YOU to all our wonderful guests from last year and look forward to doing all we can to help make our new guests stay with us as pleasant as possible in 2009.

Mrs Murphys cottage

Review Submitted: September 13, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
Mrs Murphys cottage was a lovely place to stay. It is spotlessly clean and has a modern facilities. It is ideal for families with small children as there are games and toys for the children to play with.
The nearby town provided all the facilities you could need, and galway is not too far by car. There are also many other tourist attractions within a short drive.

Our Wonderful Summer Vacation 2009

New Yorker 2009 New York City
Review Submitted: September 7, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
My family and I spent a lovely week this August at the Cottage in Mountbellow, County Galway. The house is charming, immaculate and very comfortable. Mountbellow is an adorable market town with good pubs & markets; the house is an easy walk from the center of town. From our home base were able to explore Galway City and the historic towns in Galway County, we spend a day travelling around Connemara, we drove to some of the grand houses in Roscommon and we traveled down to the Cliffs of Mohr. Mary, Dan and their children embodied the friendless and warmth that Ireland is so well known for. I would not hesitate to return to the cottage and I recommend it to anyone in search of a vacation in rural Ireland.
