The tastefully modernised upside down cottage, is a 18th century former farm building. Adjoining the owners property, located in a shared courtyard with the Village Hall. The cottage enjoys private secluded gardens overlooked only by the picturesque Village Church and garden. Fitted throughout with high quality furnishings and underfloor heating, the cottage comfortably accommodates upto 6 people, in a large family bedroom for 4, and a sofabed within the open planned lounge. It is equally suitable for a group of friends looking for informal relaxed accommodation. The village of Barkston Ash offers 2 pubs, of which one has a popular restaurant, within a 2 min walk. The golf course, restaurant and curiosity shops at Scarthingwell Park are within a 10 min off road pleasant walk. Further afield, within 2 miles, are numerous shops, restaurants and pubs. The famous brewery town of Tadcaster, 4 miles, can offer river Wharfe walks and angling, brewery tours, swimming baths, and tearooms

Quiet Cottage Idyll

This property is beautifully decorated and fully equipped with all anyone could require for their stay. Everything is very clean and well looked after. The owner is very friendly and helpful. The cottage makes a great base for exploring York, Harrogate and Leeds. Being able to return to the quiet village in the evening after a short drive out of the busy city is delightful. The only downside of our visit was that we couldn't stay longer! Highly recommended.

3 Great Weeks in Courtyard Cottage

We really enjoyed our stay in the nice and cosy cottage for three weeks with lots of places to visit all around Yorkshire.

The cottage is well-equipped and provides everything you need (including wireless internet access and Sky + TV). There is a huge garden as well. However, the weather did not allow us to spend a lot of time out there.

We had an excellent time there!

My friend and I (+ our three children) stayed at this lovely upside down cottage from 27th to 29th May 09. We all had a fantastic time. On arrival we were greeted by Sallys husband who was really helpful, showed us where everything was from the secret garden to the cutlery... This is a very well equiped place to stay and there were loads of kids toys, dvds, cds and books to keep them occupied so we had a peaceful time too. nothing is too much trouble for the owners who are always on call to answer any questions. we would definately stay again. thank you, thank you, thank you...

A delightful place to stay.

Great location between Leeds and York. Ideal for visiting these great cities and further afield.
The property is ideal for small families. Our two girls loved playing in the garden. Excellent selection of games (indoor and outdoor), dvds and books to help keep them entertained.
The cottage is very well equipped, nicely furnished and spotlessly clean.
Sally and Andy are excellent hosts - very friendly and helpful. They are around if needed, but are certainly not intrusive.
Would definitely recommend.
