Villa Rosa is a re-modernised 1500 's Villa situated in a hamlet of San Cassiano, above Bagni di Lucca sleeping 8-9(10 from 1 May 2010). We are very proud of our new large 8m x 4m pool & garden which receive 8-10 hours of sunlight during the summer.Be very wary of villa's that have obscure pool pictures.It usually means that their pool is not fit for ducks?! Villa Rosa also has access to a private mountain estate. It's 55minutes from Pisa Airport & 35 minutes from Lucca,the provincial capital. This offers the ideal base to discover the joys of Tuscany.The historical spa town of Bagni Di Lucca is a ten minute drive.The beauty of its location provides the opportunity for total tourism all year round. With the Tuscan Rivera an hour by car & the ski slopes of Abetone less than 40 minutes away. The villa offers comfort and relaxation in abundance; with 2 large doubles, a medium double & large triple room combination, with two large bathrooms, on the ground and on the 1st floor.

It is situated in the Villa Rosa Garden, surrounded by our fig, pear and apple trees with natural flowering plants. The 8m x 4m pool was positioned to take advantage of the summer sun, which receives between 8-10 hours of sunlight during the summer.It also has 5 aluminium beach loungers for your added comfort. There is also a garden balcony area with garden furniture for breakfast,lunch or dinner Al Fresco. This area has flowering plants and our vines which we harvest in September for our own estate vine production. Villa Rosa is traditionally built over 2 floors with a total area of 180 sq metres. Marble and local stone flooring mean easy cleaning and cool interiors. A large Open fire in the kitchen area can also be used.

Ski: Villa Rosa is situated only 40 minutes driving from Abetone ski resort, which is open from December to April.It is not only the biggest resort south of the Italian Alps but also the biggest Apennine resort. Located in a state forest on the Modena to San Marcello Road near the border between Tuscany and Emilia Romagna, with ski access points at Faidello (1220m) Abetone (1400m) Le Regine (1200m) Plan di Novello (1150m) and Cutigliano (733m). There are 54 lifts over this wide area with 27 at Abetone itself, including many chairs. These access an extensive network of mixed-ability pistes above and below the tree-line. The highest point (Monte Gomito) is 1940m. 20 kilometers of ski slopes have snow making facilities. Abetone has 2 ski schools. An excellent 5 star location for Tuscany!

We stayed for a week at Villa Rosa in June and had a fabulous time. Our party consisted of myself , wife, 3 children and in laws. First of all I have to thank the Villa Rosa Team in helping us get to the villa. My GPS navigation decided to pack up just past Lucca. A quick call to the team and in 25 minutes, one of them had been dispatched to “escort” us in.I’m sure we would have made it but the fact that they went out of their way to help us meant a lot to me and my family.

We arrived and my tribe decamped to the villa and were shown around the place by the team member. We had bought our supplies at a local hyper market but Villa Rosa had left us a free welcome pack of Wine, diet coke’s and iced tea,that were already in the fridge......what a life saver guys!

Villa Rosa was spotless and well equipped. My teenage daughters loved the Sony ipod sound system and I loved the Sony Flat screen TV....(even though I promised my wife I wouldn’t look at BBC 24 news to keep an eye on the business world).

The kitchen had all the utensils a cook could wish for. But we had decided not to really cook ... after all we were on holiday! We spent our dinners in Bagni di Lucca or at the local trattoria in the village.

We picked Villa Rosa because we were looking for a place to maximize our time in Tuscany. Its only 30 minutes from Lucca and about an hour from Pisa .

We listened to the teams advice and drove to Lucca , parked the car in the safe secure parking area and an hour and half later we were in the centre of Florence. Perfect.

Villa Rosa’s location is hard to fault. All the rooms have fabulous views and the Villa had 2 lovely bathrooms which was appreciated by all.

The pool was large and the garden area around it was well planned with its natural shaded area and sun loungers, all aluminum and very comfortable. With the pool being cleaned twice a week, it was immaculate and the girls loved swimming in the water.

Our week at Villa Rosa finished far to quickly and we spent the evening relaxing on the balcony. Villa Rosa managed to cocoon me at relax me completely. I wish I could go back next week and with any luck we will try and come again for a half term. With the excellent prices they have I can see why they have become very popular, judging by the great comments, left by others in the visitors book.

The whole family loved Villa Rosa and came back home feeling refreshed and relaxed.

The free drinks we provide again help our guests get in the holiday mood quickly and there's nothing like having a refreshing cold drink when you’ve just arrived. The Sony ipod station and tv are the same equipment that we have ourselves and thus we did not hesitate in buying them again when adding them to Villa Rosa.

We do pride ourselves on the quality of the pool and its high cleanliness. Thats why its visited by our pool guy and gardener every week. When choosing the sun loungers we looked to what was being used at the higher end beach clubs on the Tuscan Riviera, all aluminum and easy to use.

Whenever you and your family want to come back, just let us know, you will be most welcome

Already planning our return holiday to Villa Rosa!

After a less than a month back from a week at Villa Rosa I'm still dreaming of the beautiful Villa Rosa and its scenic views from its balcony.... much better than what I can see from my office.

I had looked around on the internet for a week or so before I found Villa Rosa on Holiday Rentals. I just thought that some of the prices for a week in Tuscany, were really quite silly and it was a welcome surprise when I saw that this place offered a competitive price with fantastic facilities. My other party members (4 couples in total), agreed with my choice and we booked for mid September.

Our flight arrived on time and with the clear road directions and pictures provided when we booked, we arrived at the villa in next to no time.

The villa was spotless and we were shown around by one of the Villa Rosa Team. Great to see that a quality ipod dock was supplied so that we could play some music to chill-out. Although we mainly just listened to the birds singing and were amazed how quite it was.

You can see the whole Lima valley and at night time we enjoyed home made cocktails on the open balcony, with the village lights across the valley resembling star constellations.

We thought that the location was great with the ability to drive to Lucca and take the train to Florence for the day. Another day was spent on the Tuscan Riviera with an array of Blue Flag beaches to choose from, we were spoilt for choice. We also made it to the Top of Mount Prato Fiorito,and at 1280m, we caught sight of the sea.

Wherever we went we were happy to get back to Villa Rosa in the evening to rest and then head up to the village trattoria with the most amazing local dishes ever... I will never bother eating at an italian restaurant again in the UK...I would just be wasting my money?!

What we loved most about the villa was its homely design, with the huge fireplace and local stone floors, you can see that they've kept the best of the old house and added modern touches. The large ground floor bathroom was beautiful with the washing machine easy to use .It also has a large modern pool 8m X 4m.

I have to mention how well we were looked after by the team with the free ice tea and wine provided on arrival but also the advice and service was 5 Star. Mid week we ran out of gas and while we popped to Bagni di Lucca for an hour, it was replaced.

We would recommend Villa Rosa to anyone wanting to enjoy the best of Tuscany.

Returning back for a second time.

Just wanted to say what a beautiful place Villa Rosa is. We spent a week last September here and me and my family were so happy, that we have decided to rebook again.

We have been coming to Tuscany for over 20 Years and I think I'm qualified to comment on a great place when I see one. But also on some of the absolutely crazy prices that some Villa's continue to charge.

Villa Rosa, run by a small friendly team, has a particular positive attitude. They told us that they try to be competitive on pricing and offer more than others. They want people to return time and time again. I can only say that this policy is working with ourselves returning again.

September in Tuscany provides the right mix of cooler temperatures and less crowds to enjoy its museums etc and with Villa Rosa based between Pisa, Lucca and Firenze, its the ideal base for your exploration of this majestic land.

The Village bar and shop are only an 8 minute walk and you can eat a the local trattoria for about 10/12 Euros. We normally had our cappuccinos there and bought fresh village bread , cheese and salami from the village shop, before heading to Villa Rosa's private estate at Dante's Peak. Only 15 Minutes from the villa it provides a great place to relax, sunbath and have a picnic. I was amazed when a wild stag galloped past us as we walked around. You are indeed in the middle of nature here.

On our returns back to the Villa we would eat “Al Fresco” on the villa's balcony, with its views of the Lima Valley to die for!!

The rooms are clean and we all slept in comfort. I have to also mention the large pool which has the most amazing natural shade area that you could want.

We couldn't fault Villa Rosa and hence thats the reason why we are coming back. See you all in September!

Fantastic Tuscan New Year at an amazing price!

Well what can I Say....Me and my family have just returned back from Tuscany after having spent the new year period there. We booked and stayed at Villa Rosa, located just above the town of Bagni Di Lucca, in the village of San Cassiano Di Controne. The villa was clean and as described on this site.We were spoilt for choice with things to do. We wanted to ski initially but did'nt want a complete skiing holiday. The fact that we were only 35 minutes away from the Abetone ski resort,was a great bonus.We were able to drive, park and ski monday to thursday before it got busy... although when we mean by busy it was no where near as crazy as other Ski resorts.

Villa Rosa has its on private estate at Dante's Peak and though it was chilly, we were able to sea wild stag and eagles, which the children loved. Even in Winter the views over the Lima valley are to die for! The Villa has central heating and a large open fire and well equipped kitchen. We will be back in the summer to try out the large pool. With Villa Rosa being priced very competitively ; this will go along way in helping families deal with the current euro/pound exchange rate. All 8 of us stayed in comfort here and we would recommend this place to everyone planning a stay in Lucca/Tuscany.
