Experience the charm and tranquillity of Mediterranean life in one of Southern France's most beautiful villages. Located on the ancient village market square of Lagrasse, the Maison Maynard is a 14th century medieval house that combines history, comfort and romance. The house has been completely renovated and modernized and now sleeps 6-8 people comfortably...including two Queen bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms and A/C; one bedroom with twin beds and A/C; one room with a Queen sofa bed. Sleep deeply in your air-conditioned bedroom in the heart of the French countryside. Wake up refreshed in the morning, explore the shops and restaurants in the village, hike the surrounding hills and be refreshed with an afternoon swim in the river. Enjoy leisurely evenings in the Grande Salle of the house and gaze at the wall murals dating back as far as the 13th century and the 15th century ceiling with original medieval paintings. It will be a holiday to remember!

Officially designated 'One Of The Most Beautiful Villages In France', Lagrasse nestles at the confluence of two valleys in the Aude region of the South of France. The village is linked to the 8th century Benedictine abbey to which it owed its original prosperity by two graceful bridges spanning the river. If you can pull yourself away from the village, you can easily visit Cathar Castles, Carcassonne, Narbonne, and Coullioure as well as other seaside towns and wine growing villages.

    • A deposit of 50% will be required at the time of reservation to secure booking. Balance is due eight weeks before arrival date.
    • Refundable security deposit of 500 Euros to cover breakages to be sent with the balance.
    • In the case of cancellation less than 12 weeks before the date of arrival, the deposit is non-returnable.
    • All prices include gas, electricity, water, linen, towels and end of stay cleaning.
    • Rentals run Saturday to Saturday.

Few cities in the world are so identified by a place of peace and serenity hidden jewel like Ann & Chris’ Lagrasse abode. And congratulations come not only from their fabulous decorating with artifacts and trinkets from across the world, but their attention to detail in preserving the integrity and history of the house is admirable.

Activities are plentiful from hiking Fesse de Charlemagne, to wine tasting (Borde Rouge), castles such as Peyrepertuse, unparalleled culinary adventures (too many to mention), Abbey Fontfroide (if you’re lucky you’ll see the guard dogs in lieu of gargoyles!), rock pools at Ribaute, canal at Homps, day tours to Minerve, Carcassonne, and our favorite seaside town of Collioure. (Someone told us that the Knights Templar built the phallic like structure, although no facts were checked in preparation of this caption.) The seafood was so fresh that a little lively crab made its way off of our seafood platter. (That was a first!)

In summary, our touring, wine tasting, and culinary adventures were phenomenal and gave great pleasure to this discerning travel group. We had a blast, highly recommend, and would absolutely prowl the region again!
