| Notes: | Latchi has a row of shops including a small supermarket where you can buy fresh fruit and vegetables. The harbour has a walkway around 3 sides, and is flanked by a row of tavernas and restaurants, where you can eat or just have a drink and watch the world go by. To the east of Latchi is Polis, a traditional Greek town built around its small square. As well as the option of bus or car to take the two mile journey, there is a lovely coastal walk. The old part of Polis has a narrow cobbled street with a good choice of restaurants; the evening atmosphere is well worth experiencing. For walkers, ramblers, and anyone who loves the outdoors, Latchi is on the edge of the Akamis, a 250 square kilometre area of outstanding natural beauty, with its deep gorges, wild landscapes, unique flowers, rare birds, wide sandy beaches and breathtaking views. Of all the articles we have read, the one which we found to best describe it was very simple 'an unspoilt wild place of sheer natural beauty'. |
