Petritoli holiday farmhouse

My wife and I stayed at this rental property in rural Petritoli with our two children aged 8 and 10 in early February 2010. We found the cottage exactly as described - clean, modern, well maintained and toasty warm in winter.

The owners Margitta and Reinhold live just down the road - close enough to provide immediate assistance, far enough to give plenty of privacy. They provided excellent customer service. For example, after we mentioned to Margitta our interest in hitting the outlet stores, we returned that evening to find brochures and maps to all the nearby shopping places waiting for us on the table outside the cabin. In another instance, we had trouble starting the cooker early one morning, so we phoned and Reinhold was at the cabin literally minutes later to sort it out (it just needed a new tank of gas). We couldn't have asked for better customer care.

We had some cold weather during our stay, but the cabin is so warm we found it best to keep the underfloor heating on no higher setting than level 2 (out of a maximum of 5). It was great to be able to come home and build a nice fire as well.

The cottage is in a rural area, and on clear evenings you can go out and remember what it's like to see the stars at night. The city of Petritoli is just minutes away - we went in to get fresh bread in the mornings, and the takeaway pizzeria "Girasole" was a favorite for the kids. There is also a cafe in town which offers free WiFi, so it was easy to stay connected if that's what you want to do!

I suppose the only reservation I can think of is for families with very young children - the house is on a steep hill; some parents might not feel comfortable letting the kids just run around by themselves in the yard.

We would very highly recommend this property to everyone.

We came for 1 week and stayed for 5. Margitta and Rei were wonderful hosts and we enjoyed getting to know them and appreciated their help in learning about the Marche area. Though it is small, it is very efficiently designed. The little campanna is located just a few kilometers from the friendly town of Petritoli, unlike other rentals we have stayed in, you can be in town in seconds, but still feel like you are in the country.Its a central location for exploring the area, and 20 minutes to the sea,so we went often.The house has radian floor heating keeping us warm in December and January. We remember it fondly helping to make us think that, after 3 months in Italy, the Marche is the best.

Wir haben nun bereits 3 Mal in den Marken Urlaub gemacht und sind immer wieder begeistert. Die Capanna hat eine wunderschöne Lage und ist sehr geschmackvoll und gut durchdacht eingerichtet. Man hat auf 2 verschiedenen Terrassen die Möglichkeit draußen zu essen und kann sich so je nach Tageszeit im Schatten oder in der Sonne aufhalten. Im Abendlicht ist es besonders schön, den Ausblick auf die sanften Hügel der Umgebung zu genießen. Auf dem umliegenden Grundstück können Kinder ungestört spielen.
Bei einem Urlaub im Oktober hatten wir tagsüber wunderbar warmes Wetter und als es abends und nachts etwas kühler wurde ließ sich das Haus angenehm beheizen. Beim Anschlussaufenthalt in Apulien haben wir uns nach dieser Wärme zurückgesehnt.
Die Vermieter, Margitta und Reinhold, sind sehr aufmerksam und hilfsbereit, geben gute Tipps wie man den Tag gestalten kann und versorgen ihre Gäste gerne mit Gemüse aus biodynamischem Eigenanbau.

Die Nähe zu Bergen und Meer mit den vielfältigen Möglichkeiten Kultur und Natur zu genießen, sowie die Ursprünglichkeit der Region und die Freundlichkeit der Menschen haben es uns angetan. Wir mögen die Küche der Marken, die Bars und Eisdielen und die Besuche auf den Wochenmärkten. Besonders in Porto San Giorgio, wo man beim Blick auf die Gebäude am Ende des Markttreibens an Nizza erinnert wird. Anschließend kann man sich am Lido ausruhen. Rundum empfehlenswert!
