The villa is situated beneath the Motovun town walls, on the hill dominating the wonderful Mirna river valley. It overlooks the ancient Motovun oak forest rich with truffles, mushrooms of sublime taste, and the slopes where grapes for famous Istrian wines are grown. The interior is spacious (350 m2) and has been beautifully furnished and decorated with attention to details. The villa surroundings, with olive trees and a small vineyard, give complete privacy around the stone decked pool. A covered terrace with a barbecue provides the perfect outside dining area by the pool from where you can enjoy sunsets over the valley. Motovun legends, smells and tastes all came together into a distinct atmosphere that also rubbed off the Dolce Vita. The romantic villa is available for rent all year round.

Motovun is a medieval town-monument with a golf course, natural spring wells and spa, horseback riding and a international film festival. Great restaurants, taverns, vineries, cafes are all around the villa. The Adriatic coast is 20min away with the beaches and tourist towns of Porec, Rovinj, Novigrad... 45 min away is Pula and Brijuni islands national natural park. You can even get to Porec on a mountain bike track that runs just under the estate. From Porec you can make a boat trip to Venice. Just over the border a 30min car drive is the city of Trieste with great shopping. This property is a perfect spot in Motovun for large party's. The tasteful lay out, the garden and the breath taking view over the vineyard and the Mirna valley are the star facers of the property. It is definitely one of the best locations in Motovun area. Amenities’ are in a walking distance.

Travel: Pula airport (in Croatia) is 65 km (40 miles) from our villa. Ryan Air flies there from Stansted on Saturdays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from £19.99 each way. Monarch Airways departs Gatwick at 10:15 and arrives at 13:25. The return flight leaves Pula at 14:25, arriving at Gatwick at 15:30. There's a number of low cost companies flying to Pula (PUY) from all over Europe, and you can hire a car from several companies at the airport. Alternative airports are Rijeka, Trieste, Ljubljana and Venice. If you are getting here by car - Motovun is very easy to find and once there you just can't miss the villa.

Aditional services: You can rent a mountain bike for around 12 EUR per day (including insurance) and take it on the wonderful 'Parenzana' trail which passes just under the villa. The trail used to be an old railroad and it goes thru vineyards and forests with the tunnels and bridges still preserved.

Terrific Family Holiday villa in Istria

We have just returned from the most perfect family holiday at Villa Dolce Vita in Motovun. It was the perfect location for our extended family of 12, including 4 generations of our family from England. It was an ideal property for 80 year old plus Great Grandparents who had the downstairs bedroom leading out to the pool, and also great for the rest of our grown up family and 3 year old grandson.

Our hosts, Walter and Lily were brilliant not only looking after us so well, but also dealing with all of the small things to make our holiday easy and comfortable. We have stayed in Villas as a family in Italy, Greece and France many times, but this was the BEST experience that we have had. Great views from the balconies, a terrific and very clean swimming pool and great outdoor eating areas and barbeque. We have high standards and Walter and Lily and Dolce Vita met them all. I can recommend this villa and the hosts to all. The website gives a splendid and very accurate picture of the villa. It was excellent value and I hope that we will return to this part of Istria and to Dolce Vita in the near future. 5 star recommendation from all 4 generations; ideal for peole like us in their 80s, 50s, 20s and also youngsters.

Istrian Idyll

We are a group of 5 couples in our early fifties who have just enjoyed a week in this beautiful villa.
On the booking process - Ivan was very helpful in answering all our initial queries on the villa and its availability, and on related topics such as travel arrangements and car hire. The payment process was easy.
The owners, Walter and Lily, welcomed us to the villa on our first day. We found the villa to be clean and well maintained and thought that the photographs and descriptions gave an accurate reflection of the villa and the facilities on offer. The kitchen was kitted out with plenty of good quality cooking equipment (but would benefit from a larger and faster kettle for tea drinkers!) and we particularly enjoyed the barbecue and outside eating area.
Our only disappointment with the villa was the lack of air conditioning in two of the bedrooms - making it necessary to sleep with the windows open which meant that unfortunately the occupants were frequently woken during the night by the howling and barking of dogs.
We were all bitten by midges - something beyond the control of the owners - so remember to take lots of insect repellants.
It was easy to find our way around in Istria. The roads are excellent and very quiet. We enjoyed days in Rovinj (a beautiful coastal town) and the seaside resort of Novigrad. Motovun itself is stunning and well worth the climb.
Eating at the villa was made easy with large supermarkets available in Buzet and Pazin, each about 20 minutes drive away (and open until about 8pm Mon - Sat). There is a small shop across the road from the villa for essentials, including tasty bread. Eating out and drinking was also excellent value. We particularly enjoyed a meal at the Hotel Kastell in Motovun with spectacular views of the sunset.
All in all - an enjoyable holiday in a beautiful villa, surrounded by unspoilt countryside.

Excellent villa with local amenities

This is a beautiful villa with six large bedrooms, plenty of bathrooms and a pool around which you can base your whole stay. There is outdoor seating which comfortably sat 13 of us (all adults) for all of our main meals. There is also a large indoor dining table, but we never used that. For those who want to get out of the sun, the living room is perfect for relaxing with the french doors left open and there is a pool table which is great if you fancy a quick game. Two criticisms: firstly, despite the initial warm welcome from the property management team, we requested a new filter for one of the drinking water taps and this never arrived and two, the availability of various kitchen utensils and a full matching set of crockery for a large group was lacking. Nonetheless, I would recommend this villa. It is large enough for a big group and is within walking distance to shops, a bar, restaurants and the village of Motovun. It also is in a good location for day trips to Pula, Porce, Rijeka or Opidija - you will need a car though!
Owner's Response: Thank you for the nice review. I'm sorry about the water filter... e-spring sells its filters by mail order... and it just didn't arrive in time. There's two such excellent water filtering systems in the villa and as we changed the expired filter they are both now in perfect working order. I'm also sorry about the crockery not matching, when we will replace them we'll pay more attention to get matching sets.

Luxus gepaart mit romantischer Gemütlichkeit

Alle Angaben waren nicht nur richtig sondern können eigentlich per Foto oder Beschreibung wiedergegeben werden, da es einfach perfekt war. So sauber und gepflegt wie man es von einem 5* Hotel erwarten darf, aber hier toll umgesetzt. Es ist über das eigene Haustelefon die Familie jederzeit erreichbar und sofort behilflich. Das Essen in Motovun ebenso perfekt und wenn man nicht weg will, kommt einfach der Koch ins Haus. Einfach ein Traum - Urlauben und sich verwöhnen lassen ohne Massentourismus in idyllischer Landschaft - relaxing pur. Da ich eine Internetverbindung benötigte überlies mir einfach der Schwiegersohn seinen Zugang und dies einfach für ein Bier.. unkompliziert und familär - ich empfehle diese Objekt jedem der einfach relaxen will, Billiard mag und in Ruhe im Pool seine runden dreht - und wenns sein muß ist man in 20 min. voll im Geschehen...
