Croix fry- getting around :
With stunning views over the Aravis mountains this apartment is situated directly opposite the chairlifts of Coix Fry, La Clusaz.
Being a mere 5 min walk from the nearest chairlift allows guests to enjoy plenty of skiing time rather than enduring lengthy travel by foot or by bus to reach the skiing areas. Once you are at the chairlift you can access all 5 areas of the La Clusaz mountains, including Balme, Aiguille, Etale, Beauregard & Manigod.
At the foot of the pistes of Croix Fry you can find the local ski shop where you can hire all your skis & boots if you do not have your own. By the car park you can also find the ESF ski school, where you can arrange to meet an instructor for a ski or snowboard lesson. Lift passes can be purchased at the ski lifts. The bus which stops by the car park will take you into La Clusaz village centre.
There are three bar/restaurants in croix fry just a 5 min walk from the apartment if you do not want to cook or travel into La Clusaz
La Clusaz Village:
Once in La Clusaz there are many things to do. Throughout the peak season months the village regularly provides on street entertainment for kids and adults...check the La Clusaz website for upcoming events. Other things to do in the village is outdoor ice-skating, bumboarding, sledding, shopping for food, clothes, sports equipment, antiques, souvenirs, horse & cart rides, swim in the heated outdoor pool, saunter around the local French market on Monday's or simply sampling the many Savoyard bars, restaurants and cafes.
From La Clusaz you can take the gondola up to Beauregard, where you'll find the resorts learner slopes, many restaurants with breathtaking views and a huge aray of country walks.
At the gare routiere (coach station) you can jump on a connecting bus to access Le Grand Bornand ski resort or head to Annecy for shopping or lake activities.
SUMMER in the Alps:
The area is heaven for those wishing to chill out in beautiful surroundings. A huge array of enthusiasts arrive in the warmer months. The most popular sports activities here in the summer is Walking, Mountain Biking, paragliding & cycling. All are available to undertake alone or you can hire guides or instructors. If you head to Annecy (30 mins) virtually all watersports can be found on the huge lake, particularly wakeboarding and waterskiing. If you are not one for getting wet, simply taking in the beauty of the lake and the shopping streets is just as rewarding.
In all, over 40 activities are available either in the village or nearby.
Ski:
La Clusaz village is situated at an altitude of 1100m, Croix fry at 1477m and the top of Balme, the tallest of the La Clusaz range, peaks at 2600m. Overall you can cover 132km of piste runs & 130km of cross country ski trails. The variety of runs caters for all levels of skiers & boarders. Freestylers are catered for with the snowpark re-built every year and Candide Thovex hosts an amazing end of season Extreme Freestyle Ski festival.
Every Thursday you can take part in the night skiing from the heart of the village and La Clusaz is so far the only resort to put on 'full moon' skiing every......full moon!!
Le Grand Bornand provides another 90km of pistes & a snowpark and providing you purchase an ‘Aravis’ ski pass you can ski in both resorts with the same pass.
For non-skiers, activities can include, racket-walks (organised tours available), paragliding, dog sledding, swimming, massage, sauna, horse & cart trips or experimenting the local food in the many savoyard restaurants.
