Sky TV, air conditioning, open fireplace, private pool, large conservatory leading to garden, 2 large terraces and BBQ areas. Private drive with electric gates for security. Tastefully decorated, with rustic twist, this villa has a very homely feel and is only 5 minutes walk to the Blue Flag beach with it's chiringitos (beach bars) and golf course, 10 minutes from British Gibraltar where you can do your duty free shopping in pounds sterling and see the famous apes, 30 minutes to Marbella and Puerto Banus with its lively restaurants,and Saturday market. Within easy reach of the bodegas of Jerez, a trip to Morocco is only 45 minutes away by hydrofoil. Whether for a summer holiday or a quiet romantic break at any time of the year this villa is ideal.

With its close proximity to Gibraltar where you can shop in sterling, Alcaidesa stands out from many coastal resorts as it is within easy reach of airports and many golf courses on the Costa del Golf, Andalucia, however it retains a quiet, laid back atmosphere compared with other coastal resorts and has wonderful views to Morocco (only 45 minutes from Tarifa by hydrofoil). The white village of San Roque is only 15 minutes away. Marbella and Puerto Banus about 40 minutes drive or if you prefer spectacular scenery take in the gorge at Ronda either by car or train from San Roque station. Alcaidesa itself has green areas and parks for walks or for children to play. There is a water park only 15 minutes away, or take a dolphin/whale watching trip on a boat. Jerez (1 hour away) and Sevilla (2 1/2 hours) still retain their typical Andalucian atmosphere. Of course you may just want to lie on the beautiful Blue Flag beach at Alcaidesa popular with locals and tourists alike.

The villa is located by Alcaidesa Links Golf Course, but it is also within 10 minutes of Valderrama and San Roque Golf courses, and about 15 minutes from Duquesa. The ski resort of Sierra Nevada opens from November to April normally, and is 2 1/2 hours away by car. Gibraltar is only 15 minutes away to the border, where you can do all your duty free shopping in pounds sterling and enjoy its many restaurants and bars in any of its three marinas, or enjoy a dolphin and whale watching boat trip.

We visited to attend a family wedding in Gibraltar. The villa and pool were immaculate and the owners were incredibly helpful.

It was the most beautiful and relaxing setting with everything you could ask for from a home away from home. If you are thinking of visiting this area of spain we would recommend this as an excellent place to set your base for relaxing by the pool and barbacueing in the evenings or setting off on some excellent day trips to Gibraltar, Ronda, Morocco.

Great location, wonderful house

This is a wonderful house in a great location especially the beach which is only a few minutes away. The house is furnished in a way that felt like we were staying in someone's home rather than a buy to let holiday property (that can have a functional but impersonal feel). We were a group of six people including two young children. The kids really enjoyed playing on the beach whereas the adults loved taking a long walk along the coast. You definitely need a car here but that also means that you can visit places slightly further afield such as Seville (a day trip away). The owner is very hospitable and can provide a lot of information about the local area. We would love to return to this property in the future.

Good holidays, even though the weather was not hot enough to lie on the beach we were able to bbq in the garden and go for long walks. Although the evenings were cool the house was nice and cosy. All in all we found everything as described and had a very relaxing time.

We returned home thoroughly relaxed and wished we could have stayed longer. After day trips out it was lovely to come back and have the pool to ourselves. Thanks again to you both.
