Perfect country getaway.

Carole and Alan Armidale, Australia
Review Submitted: July 8, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
We were fortunate to have good weather in early May to enjoy the beauty of La Bessardiere and its surrounds. So green and all the trees in blossom!
Vicky and Martin were wonderfully helpful hosts with plenty of current touring information to supplement that available in the cottage.
We enjoyed the cleanliness, cosiness and amenities provided, not to mention the complimentary wine, all within easy driving access to the restaurants, traiteurs, cafes and bars of Villedieu.
We found plenty to do apart from feeding the friendly sheep: Tuesday markets in Villedieu, D-Day landing beaches, Bayeux, Mont St Michel, St Malo, Granville, Coutances, Percy, Vire, Dol de Bretagne, l'Abbaye de Hambye and visiting the wonderful patisserie/boulangerie in La Chapelle Cecelin on a regular basis!
This is the perfect spot to get away from it all in comfort and have access to both Normandy and Brittany. Next time I'm coming for two weeks!

We stayed at the cottage for 5 nights in June and had a wonderful time. The cottage itself is absolutely lovely and very relaxing and peaceful, the setting is delightful and allows many opportunities to sit in the sun with a book and relax, BBQ, and just stroll around the meadows. The sheep are also most entertaining and certainly enjoy some bread!

The cottage is ideally situated for visiting Normandy's many sights including the French National Stud, Haras du Pin, for any horse fans it's a must!

We'll certainly be back as soon as we work out how to travel with a baby!

La Bessardiére

Steven & family Dublin, Ireland
Review Submitted: April 16, 2009 Date of Stay: April 2009
My family and I spent a wonderful week in the cottage at La Bessardiére during the Easter mid-term school break. The location is perfect, being secluded but still only a quick drive to the nearest town (with markets, shops and restaurants). The cottage itself, is very quaint, well furnished and very cosy. It's situated amongst a lovely garden with plenty of space for a 5 yr old boy to run about and explore. The easy access to the freeways make day trips to Mont-Saint-Michel, Jersey, the Landing Beaches, Caen are all very simple. All in all a great place to holiday

Wonderful time at La Bessardière

GlennandAlison St Albans, UK
Review Submitted: February 28, 2009 Date of Stay: February 2009
Myself and my fiance stayed at La Bessardière for 5 nights from 18th Feb 09 having got the overnight ferry from Portsmouth to St Malo. We found the cottage to be everything as described, clean, cosy and very comfortable. Vicky greeted us on our arrival and explained everything we needed to know and then let us have our own space, which was much valued. The welcoming alight stove in the lounge and chilled bottle in the fridge were a very nice touch!!!

We found the surrounding area to be quiet and rural and just what we were looking for. On one stroll through the grounds a deer (believed Roe) emerged from the woods to briefly join us being scurrying off elsewhere!

The nearby town of Villedieu les Poeles is worth an explore and there are several supermarkets nearby for that weekly shop.

During our stay we visited Mont St Michel, Granville (good Sat market) and the D-Day landing beaches amongst others and we can recommend them all. They are within easy driving distances and the road network is excellent.

Unfortunately, our stay flew past all too quickly and we were very sorry to pack up and leave. We travelled back to the UK via the Caen to Portsmouth sailing and found the drive just as easy as the one from St Malo.

We had a wonderful stay and would not hesitate to recommend this cottage to a friend.

Lovely cottage, highly recommended!

Sally + Chris Hampshire, England
Review Submitted: July 9, 2008 Date of Stay: June 2008
The cottage was lovely and clean and well equipped with everything we needed for our holiday and more. The grounds are very beautiful and peaceful and we spent a lot of time lying in the sun and cooking on the barbeque. The beaches and forest and lakes are all a short drive away and the cottage had an information folder containing numerous activities to explore in the nearby area.
It is a short drive/walk to the nearest village and there is a large supermarket in the next village.
The cottage was also very easy to get to from Caan ferry port.
Vicky and Martin were very helpful and welcoming, but also respected our privacy leaving us to enjoy our holiday and relax which we really appreciated. We would recommend this property for families or couples, for a relaxing holiday, or to get out and see the sights and the lovely countryside.
