Our home is ancient with exposed stones and wood beams, & has been updated with all modern conveniences. 2 floors & a rooftop terrace with a BBQ and views of the castle & Montgo. Ground floor is open with lounge, DR, kitchen, & half bath; 2d floor has 2 BRs and 2 full baths; master BR has a balcony, double bed & a study; back BR has bunk beds perfect for kids & a skylight; each has it's own full bath. Complete modern kitchen; WiFi internet; cable TV; stereo; phone; laundry; etc. Rooftop terrace with views & BBQ! Located on a tiny, quiet, residential street in the old centre, just a stone's throw from the castle that sits over the town. Beaches are a 10 minute walk via the tunnel under the castle. The small central plaza and many excellent restaurants & stores are just steps away. The best bakery in town is just across the street. (Say hi to Rosa for us!) We provide an extensive, personalized guide to our home and Dénia, and welcome guests with a bottle in the wine refrigerator.

Our house is located just a stone's throw from the Castle in Los Roques, one of Dénia's 2 'barrios antiguos.' You can find traces of Dénia's Roman, Moorish, and Medieval past mixed with a very vibrant present. Dénia has the ambience of a small town & the options of a sophisticated city. It has famous beaches and a fine social life, with a performing arts centre, many museums (one of the best is in the castle), and truly excellent restaurants & clubs. See the town's website & its calendar of events; there's always something going on. Montgo national park is wonderful with hiking and cycling trails galore, and it's right next to town. Several other nature parks are nearby. Take the ferry to Ibiza -- just 2 hours away! Boat rentals and lots of other recreational activities are also available. There's an excellent golf course nearby and amusement parks a short drive away. Dénia also has some of the best cycling in Spain; it's no wonder that so many pros train here.

  • 250 euro refundable security deposit required. To hold a reservation, we ask that you send us the security deposit, which is fully refundable up to two weeks before your reservation. We ask that you pay the rent in full two weeks before your reservation. We reserve the right to charge high season rates for the Easter and Christmas holiday periods.
  • There is a one-time cleaning fee of 50 euros; the same amount applies regardless of the length of stay. We also request 25 euros per week to help cover the cost of the utilities and services (water, power, WiFi Internet, cable TV, telephone, etc.). These sums are payable upon departure or we can deduct them from the security deposit, which we will refund upon departure.
  • Please feel free to enquire about stays of less than a week or stays from mid-week to mid-week. We'll be happy to try to work something out if it doesn't conflict with other obligations.

  • The bathroom with the master bedroom is spacious and integrated within it. The toilet is in a separate room on one side, the shower is enclosed on the other. The large double sink and vanity is in the open area. The bathroom attached to the bedroom in back is decorated brightly and kids love it. It is separated from the bedroom by a sliding door. The shower is constructed with glass blocks. The half-bath down stairs has just a toilet and sink. It's set off the back of the kitchen. The washing machine & dryer are on the rooftop terrace. There are lines to hang-dry the clothes there. The total amount of space is 147 square meters. The interior measures a total of 122 square meters, and the rooftop terrace another 25 square meters.

  • The master bedroom is on the 2d floor at the front with a small balcony over the little street. It's a large room that includes a study and a private bathroom. It has a high, vaulted ceiling with exposed timbers, and a floor with lovely large tiles. The second bedroom is also on the 2d floor in the back. It has a bunk bed perfect for kids, a skylight to the rooftop terrace, & a floor light to the kitchen. It too has a private bath with bright fixtures. There's an extra sofa bed under the stair to the rooftop terrace suitable for a Harry Potter hideout. The rooftop terrace has great views of the castle and Montgo -- & a barbecue! The 1st floor is open and airy w/ exposed stones and timbers. The lounge area has couches & an entertainment centre with TV (cable) and a stereo; WiFi throughout. The dining seats 8 & is colorful & comfortable. The kitchen is modern and has all the conveniences, even a wine refrigerator.

Notes: Our home is in the ancient centre of Dénia. For us, the neighbourhood and the community make our time there very special. We have family in the area, but one need only spend a little time there to make friends. Rosa in the panaderia across the street is the heart & hub of the community with a warm word for all. The restaurants and pubs on Calle Loreto (which is pedestrian only) just a block away run the range from simple to fancy, and the folks in all of them are warm and friendly. Strike up a conversation and you'll soon learn the house specialities and the best of the seafood caught fresh that morning. Our children have had no difficulty getting into pick-up football games and the like. There's a children's centre just the other side of the castle that usually has great activities too One soon feels at home here and part of a very special community. Long term rentals are welcome and reduced terms are available. Just ask us and we'll be happy to work something out.

A refreshing alternative to skyscraper beach hotels! Very nicely situated in the old town, near to everything, but you have the feeling of actually living there instead of just being a tourist.
Very nice property, and fully equipped.

In august we spent two wonderful weeks in the Casa de los Roques. The house is arranged very tastily and with lovely details, especially in the spacious kitchen and dining room. We felt like in our own home immediately. We found everything what you need for household and cooking. Even during very hot days there were pleasant temperatures inside, even without air-condition. The location is ideal. You can reach all the beautiful places of Denia in only a few minutes by walking, for example the busy Calle Loreto with many bars and restaurants, the market hall and also the beach of Denia. Rosa and Josefa received us heartily and helped us, when we had questions or requests. And, Rosas ensaimadas and ewmpanadas are delicious. Finally we were very pleased, that booking payment and re-transfer of the security deposit were without any problem.

A little Gem

The house is excellent, well equipped and clean. It is in a fabulous location right in the heart of the old town with a delicious bakery opposite and a pedestrianised street with a wide choice of bars and restuarants around the corner. The main street is just a short walk away with many interesting shops. The beach is also a short walk away from the house. We had a fabulous holiday in Denia and enjoyed sitting out on the terrace with a glass of wine in the early evening.

A great base for a family holiday with teenagers

This home was clean,cool ( in August!) and convenient to enjoying the older central part of Denia.The house was well equipped and our son and nephew enjoyed having an ensuite shower for their own use.They also enjoyed having the use of the mountain bikes which gave them the freedom to enjoy different beaches,away from the parents.The town had plenty of good restaurants and shops but seems to have avoided the high rise development of other Costa resorts.We would definitely recommend this as a good base for a holiday with older children/teenagers or for adults.

House in Denia old town.

This beautifully refurbished town house is right in the middle of the old town, close to the castle which you can see from the rooftop terrace, and to the famous Marques de Campo, the tree-lined avenue where you can sit and people-watch and enjoy the local tapas. We recommend Tasca Eulalia for the tapas, but be prepared to wait for a vacant table - the food is so good. Another recommended restaurant is La Piazza which is just a short walk away on Carrer del Mar near the English Institute language school.
Things to do in and around Denia; visit Benidorm, Altea, Calpe and many other resorts by train - it's cheap and comfortable and takes you through spectacular mountain scenery; take a boat to Javea - it's only about an hour away and well worth a visit to the beach or the old town.
While away the hours in a bar by one of Denia's two marinas. You can sit with a glass of wine, the waves breaking on the rocks behind you, and look back from the ocean towards Denia!
Hire a car and discover more of the beautiful region. Valencia is only an hours drive away but you'll need many hours to see everything this fantastic city has to offfer - the old town and the beach are two musts.. In the mountains behind Benidorm is Guadalest, the site of a hill top monastery. The views fron the town over the surrounding hills and the valley far below are absolutely splendid. Near here is a sanctuary for unwanted animals. We saw tigers, bears, a python, a camel and many more.
We visited Denia at the time of the Fallas (mid march). It was sunny and warm in the daytime and at night we were treated to bonfires and fireworks accompanied by the sounds of marching bands. Fantastico!
Our hosts Nico and Almu were pleasant to deal with and their friends across the street from the house, who run the local panaderia, take care of the cleaning and key handover. Everything went smoothly while we were there. They are lovely people and we recommend their croissants!
