Chalet die Gletscher [“the glaciers”] is a three story 6-8 bed luxury Swiss ski chalet with spectacular view from all rooms over the mountains and glaciers of the Lötschental Valley – off the Rhone valley - A perfect retreat for Summer or Winter. The ski-in walk- out self-catering chalet is located in the 2000 metre high mountain village of LAUCHERNALP, three minutes from the first ski lift, shops, bars, and restaurants of the Lauchernalp Ski Field which, because of its height from 2000 metres to 3111 metres has one of the best winter snow covers in the Valais region – and is ideal for all classes of skiers particularly intermediate and advanced skiers. Built in 2008, Chalet die Gletscher is luxuriously finished and appointed - a blend of traditional chalet design lines and 21st century glazing - fitted with almost every detail - and is surrounded by glacial mountains which are still snow capped during summer and snowed over in winter.

SKIING: 33 Kilometres of trails from 3111metres to 2000 metres [Lauchernalp] and down to Wiler at 1375 metres. At Lauchernalp, due to the altitude, the snow cover is excellent from beginning to end of the season. Skiing is from the summit [3111metres] to Lauchernalp village [2000 metres], and at points inbetween, with over 33 kilometres of trails, suitable for all classes of skiers – particularly intermediate and experienced skiers. There is also a huge area of off-piste terrain available [but get local advice first]. The ski lift infrastructure is excellent – and waiting times for lifts are minimal on most days and times. A weather proof gondola completes the rise to the summit over a small glacier and this run has partiularly good skiing. During mid-winter it's possible ski from the summit all the way to the village of Wiler at the bottom of the valley [the cable car base].     RENTAL PERIOD IS WEEKLY, SATURDAY TO SATURDAY. The prices are based on 7 nights from Saturday to Saturday.

    50% deposit is payable within 1 week of making reservation [or by negotiation].
    50% balance is payable no later than 2 months before booking date commences.

    100% payment if reservation made in less than two months of commencement of weekly rental.

    CHF 50 discount if full payment is made within 7 days of the reservation except on Special Offers.

    All payments are made directly to the owner and must be made to our Credit Suisse bank account by Transfer or by PayPal from our website.

    Upon receipt of request for reservation we will advise of the bank details and confirm the conditions described here.

    CHANGEOVER DAY is SATURDAY MORNING for DEPARTURES by 10.30 AM and SATURDAY AFTERNOON after 2.30 PM for ARRIVALS, please. These times ensure that a high standard of cleaning is kept.
  • BOOKING PROCEDURE:

    1] Carefully check the ACCOMMODATION information to ascertain that the chalet meets your requirements.

    2] Check the AVAILABILITY booking calendar – to select suitable dates to book your weekly visit.

    3] Then email the owner via the CONTACT US email form to reserve your weekly rental dates.

    4] The owner will confirm your reservation by return email and you will then have 7 days to pay the initial deposit or full weekly amount if reservation is made within less than two months of the start of the weekly rental.

    At a minimum the owner will require at least a clear week to be available before the weekly rental commences – in order to be able to confirm a booking.

    5] Before transferring any money you may for your own peace of mind wish to contact by email or telephone the local Swiss Government tourist agency Lotschental Tourismus [ English,German,Swiss-German, and French spoken] – who are also booking agents for the chalet –to confirm our authenticity
  • 6] Payment can be made by bank or internet transfer to the owner’s bank account [details provided upon confirmation] – or by bank draft to the owner’s postal address [see CONTACT US] – if agreed between the parties by email. A personal cheque drawn on a UK bank is also acceptable providing there is at least one month remaining before the weekly rental commences.
    6] A weekly cleaning charge of CHF150 + CHF 15 per person must also be made in cash to the cleaner prior to departure from the chalet.

    8] The cleaners [who maintains many LOTSCHENTAL TOURISMUS chalets at Lauchernalp] - live locally and speak German, and basic English – and will ensure the chalet is ready for occupation and the central heating activated for the dates booked – and the owner will email key and contact details before arrival.
    9] The cleaner and owner will be contactable by telephone or email during the weekly rental should an emergency arise.
    10] The cleaner will arrange the location of the keys for arrival

Spectacular Glacier and Mountain views: VILLAGE: Lauchernalp sits immediately above the town of Wiler; located 3 km from the southern end of the Lötschberg rail tunnel [which also carries car trains] and an hourly post bus from the Goppenstein train station complete an easy air/airport train link from Basel and Bern. Geneva an is a 2 hour drive, or slightly longer by train via Brig, and Zurich is a 3 hour drive. Chalet die Gletscher is situated opposite the Bietschhorn glacier which sits in the centre of the sitting room and bedroom windows - and the kitchen and dining areas of the salon overlook of the spectacular Langgletscher The chalet is an excellent base for visiting the 30 kilometre long UNESCO listed Aletsch glacier from the neighbouring Rhone valley – for which you should allocate an entire day’s visit. Ideal for summer walking, reading, writing, mountain climbing or just plain relaxing in the sun - the chalet has direct car access in summer via a sealed road from Wiler which is located at the valley base.

Lötschental Tourismus - Accreditation: Our chalet is listed with the Swiss local government tourist authority – Lötschental Tourismus [English, German, French, Italian spoken]- who are also commercial booking agents for the chalet – and whose office is situated in Wiler in the valley just below Lauchernalp village within a 5 minute gondola ride from the chalet. Lötschental Tourismus make a detailed physical inspection of the chalet and its furniture and fittings before entering into a marketing contract with the chalet owner – and can confirm the identity and bank account details of the chalet owner.

Local Villages: The nearby villages of Ferden, Kippel, Wiler and Blatten with charming narrow streets and ancient medieval twisted wooden houses surround the cable car that links the 2000 meter high Lauchernalp village with the villages in the valley below. The Lötschental valley is among the most beautiful in the Valais region and is located off the Rhone valley in the Berneser Alps in the UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE Jungfrau – Aletsch – Bietschhorn region.

A wonderful chalet in a stunning location. The decor is contemporary and the chalet is comfortably furnished. The WC's, shower and bath, hot water, and heating systems all work efficiently. The wash basins are a triumph of style over function however, you wash under free running water as the plugs are designed not to close! Also, the tall taps require more secure fixing as they wobble about! The weather was exceptionally hot during our stay so we turned down the underfloor heating, it will probably be a very snug place indeed during the winter, and there is a woodburning stove as well.

The location is stunning, and the views from the chalet......well.....heaven may look like this in places! The photos of views from the chalet windows appearing on the website are out of date now as there is active building in close proximity to the chalet and the builders start work at 7.15 a.m!

The chalet owners are very friendly and concerned to make sure your stay is as trouble free as possible. The property is cleaned by a local lady who speaks no English. The cleaning is first class, everywhere was spick and span for our arrival. We had a problem with the bedlinen and towels service however, beds were not made up, and the towel allocation for a two week stay was inadequate. It was unfortunate that we were put to this inconvenience, and with the owners intervening from a distance we did find extra bedlinen.

The internet connection works well, and this was a great bonus.

We have no hesitation in recommending Chalet die Gletscher. The issues mentioned above were minor so we have rated our overall experience as excellent. Check with the owners about building work in the area as this could detract from the peace and tranquilty you might be looking for, and make sure there will be no recurrance of the bedding and towel supply problem we had. Our experience of finding the chalet was not as straight forward as were given to believe. After a long journey, a challenging drive up to Lauchernalp from Wiler, fading light and it was raining it took us a while to find the chalet; our tip is to plan your arrival in daylight and ask the owners for more refined directions!

We have never enjoyed such great holidays!

First off all we say thank you very much for the excellent weather you ordered for our holidays. We had lots of snow, sunshine every day and on New Year's Eve approx. 50 cm new snow. So we got the chance to skiing on powdered snow on New Year!
We noticed your suggestion for the black runs from the very top but believe it or not I am 41 years old and I am very proud to survive with the small pieces of plastic on the red runs. Especially parts of the red runs in other ski areas are for sure already called black runs. We also skiing down to wiler and together with the people by foot, by skis, on sleighs and on snow boards it was like a James Bond thriller! But it was very funny. Unbelievable that we could take a down-hill from the very top down to Wiler – absolutely nice.
We had a very great view from your chalet of the wonderful countryside. The furniture and the equipment of the house are very modern and very comfortable. We felt quite happy there. The house was very near to the ski lift.
Furthermore we appreciate your calm reaction of our “High Noon” with your dishwasher. Also the contact with your housekeeping was perfect. The ski school was excellent, the contact and the and friendliness of the Switzer people was also nice.

Just wanted to let you know that we absolutely loved your chalet. It was just perfect in everyway, and we have fallen in love with Lauchernalp. We plan to head down there in the summer so we'll check out your available dates and rebook shortly. Also, already thinking about the ski season for next year. One week just wasn't enough.

As you probably know, we were blessed with the weather.

I highly recommend Lauchernalp and your chalet (although the selfish part of me doesn't want to let this location out too much).

Hope you and your families had a wonderful Christmas and you'll be hearing from us soon to rebook.
