The house is directly at the forest, at the foot of the Stemweder mountain, which belongs with its Flora to the 100 species-richest areas of Germany. The limestones of the Stemweder Mountain contain petrifying of animals and plants, which lived 73 million years ago. Different quarries give also today certification of it. From the guesthouse it is 8 kilometres to the Dümmer lake, which is with its 16 sqkm water surface Lower Saxonys' second largest lake. It lies on one of the main bird course routes and is with its surrounding field the largest bird protected area of Germany, in addition an ideal water district with some ports, sailing and surf schools. Adorable sailing-boat-trips are as popular here as a renting of sail -, rowing and paddleboats, fishing or dyke walks. The ox moor land, the Oppenweher moor land and the mill road with many functional mills, are all very near.
