Great Burrow Cottage is self-catering, detached with stunning views of Dartmoor
The cottage sleeps 5 (plus 2 on a sofa bed). It has a master double bedroom and upstairs a loft bedroom with 3 single beds (the beams are a bit low in places so mind your head!) French doors lead to a private patio and tranquil gardens with wildlife ponds. The kitchen has a vaulted ceiling and slate worktops whilst the contemporary bathroom has a slate floor and large bath with a deluge shower above. We use a heat exchange system providing constant hot water with underfloor heating that keeps the cottage temperature just right all the time. Should you wish to bring your own horses on holiday we have stables and a paddock. Just call us to arrange this. The cottage is found on a lane, the end of which splits into several bridle paths. We aim to make your stay as relaxing and peaceful as possible. When you have had enough of the local sights and activities you can relax at the cottage where you will find table tennis in the barn, DVD, Freeview, Wifi, books and binoculars!

Designated one of the National Parks of England and Wales in 1951, it is a beautiful moorland landscape with ancient forests, wooded valleys, and windswept rugged tors. The public is able to roam freely on its 369 square miles of unenclosed, open moorland, with around 600 miles of public rights of way. Dartmoor is a rich habitat for wildlife and has a wealth of archaeological remains, myths and legends. The cottage has guide books on some of the best walks. We are members of the Dartmoor Tourist Association. You can find delightful walks directly from the cottage and many others can be found at the Discover Dartmoor website. On Dartmoor you can prove you've walked the Tors by letterboxing.

We were expecting a wet weekend in Devon but we didn't quite anticipate HOW wet! Thankfully Great Burrows Cottage was an absolute delight, the cream tea welcome was most, er welcome and the owners and their children just as delectable! The cottage is beautiful and decorated with a great eye. We are pretty fussy and the thought of some cold, dank, cobwebby holiday home is too depressing. Happily the website photos hide no horrors. It's just gorgeous altho do take some Arnica for the inevitable headbumps courtesy of those upstairs beams (the room is so charming tho, it more than makes up for this minor inconvenience)! It's very well located for visiting many places, a car being pretty essential. We managed the Donkey Sanctuary, Otter Sanctuary, Eden Project, a local country fair, Bude Beach, Polperro and numerous drives across Dartmoor just for the hell of it - to appreciate the incredible wildness and those roadside sheep and ponies. Our only regret was that the weather meant we didn't really get to appreciate the garden and amazing views. But maybe when we return....
