Further details for this holiday bungalow rental in Gandia, Spain

Thing to do: Stroll through the old city center of Valencia, visiting the Lonja, now listed as World Heritage, the Central Market, the Cathedral, the Palau de la Generalitat, the Palace of the Marquis of Dos Aguas, the Serranos and the Quart towers. Visit the IVAM, the La Beneficencia Cultural Center and the Museum of Fine Arts to admire their outstanding art collections and exhibitions. - Visit the City of the Arts and Sciences, designed by Santiago Calatrava, and now considered as one of the major leisure complexes in Europe. - In the evening, go for a boat ride on the Albufera in Valencia and see all the beauty of a sunset over the lake. - Order a genuine Valencian paella, a dish of all i pebre (eels in garlic and pepper sauce) in El Palmar, or a freshly made horchata (tiger nut milk) in Alboraya.

Things to do continued: - Valencia is famed for it's Fiestas of the Fallas in Spring with huge bonfires and the amazing parades during Easter. - Travel up to the hinterlands of Valencia and visit the Rinc?n de Ademuz, the Valley of Ayora and the Requena-Utiel district. The cuisine, landscape, fiestas, popular architecture and historical sites will surprise you. - Enjoy nature at its best in the Alto Turia district. You can visit the animal reserve of La Serratilla in the mountains near Benag?ber, climb the Remedio peak in Chelva, or hike through the ravines formed by the river Turia. - Spend some time at the Estany lake in Cullera and try an arr?s negre (rice in squid ink) at midday. Visit La Canal de Navarr?s and La Safor and see the cave paintings, now World Heritage sites. - Go to a magnificent concert in Ll?ria, a town which is famous for its music activities. It has two orchestras and hosts many international symphony orchestras throughout the year.

Xàtiva - the perfect town?: This extraordinary Valencian town and its beautiful surroundings must rate as one of Spain's nicest areas. Xativa is such a clean & welcoming town that visitors feel at home there immediately. It is the town of a thousand springs. A jewel of the Costa Blanca, a place where the Iberians minted their first coins & from where the Moors introduced paper to the rest of Europe. This sophisticated town is the perfect haunt for youth in search of designer shops or those wanting to delve deep into the history of the Romans, the Carthaginians, the infamous Hannibal & the Christians during the time of Jaume I.This area is just soaked in history. Xativa castle with its 30 towers and four fortified gateways, must rate as one of the loveliest in the Valencian Community, not only because of its historic value but also because of a lot of thought and work has gone into its surroundings. Tinkling fountains, small orange groves & herb gardens give you a sense of what life must have been like long ago.

Wonderful.....

Review Submitted: August 20, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
We have recently returned from a two week break at Casa Blanca. The villa and grounds are beautiful - the photos on the website certainly do not do it justice, and a wave of relaxation swept over us the moment we arrived. Inside the villa is light and airy; there were five of us, and there was plenty of space for everyone to relax and do their 'thing'. The decor both inside and out is extremely tasteful - so nice to find somewhere with 'real' furniture!

Xativa is a lovely town, which seemlessly blends the old with the new. There are a wealth of historic features to visit, and plenty of cafes and restaurants in which to sit and wind down. It is not a typical tourist town, and at least when we were there the other visitors were predominantly Spanish - again, a welcome change! The surrounding area is beautiful, with much to satisfy all ages. Our children especially liked scrabbling around in the caves at Bocairent, and even our 15 year old daughter was spellbound by the natural beauty of the area around the Cova Negra - an important site where the skull of a Neanderthal has been found, and only about a 15 minute drive from the villa!

Valencia is easily reached on the train, and the museum of arts and science is well worth a visit. Our 12 year old son was amazed by the 'concert arena' appearing over the horizon in the shape of Darth Vader's mask!! There are several beaches fairly close by, but for us just chilling out by the pool at the villa was much more relaxing, which is completely private and not over-looked.

Paul and Sue, Scott's friends, were very friendly and helpful, and have a lot of local knowledge. A car really is an essential, but well worth it to be able to explore such a beautiful area, and the satnav very kindly provided does make that easier. Other local amenities such as supermarkets are easily found.

We all thoroughly enjoyed our holiday at Casa Blanca, and would happily return, both to the area and the villa. Scott was very quick to respond to any queries we had before the trip, and I would certainly recommend a stay at Casa Blanca, especially to those looking to stay away from the usual tourist trail!

Great Villa

Review Submitted: August 18, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
Villa Casablanca is a wonderful place to stay. The area is beautiful, clean and quiet, with the backdrop of the castle from the poolside, who could wish for a better view! The villa is clean, spacious and has everything you need for your stay..This villa is great for children,my kids(12 and 8) loved this place especially the pool where they could use it at their leisure, morning, noon and night! myself included.
Xativa itself is a great town to explore, shops, the castle, old spanish streets. The people are warm and friendly.
Finding places to eat where kids can enjoy too can be hard in another country, but Xativa has something for everyone. From Spanish cuisine, chinese, macdonalds! And in the Mayors Plaza, a shopping centre 2 mins from town ,there is an american restaurant upstairs that is a good place to eat.We also had a few bbq,s at the villa which were nice, especially when you didn't have to worry about the weather...
All in all, this villa is great,10/10.....for families, couples, everyone!
A very relaxing,enjoyable holiday,already booked for 2010.

Real Spain

Linda H-L Southend-on-Sea, Essex
Review Submitted: August 22, 2008 Date of Stay: July 2008
We were honoured to be the first visitors to the brand new villa, which when we saw it believe the website pictures did not show it's full beauty. The villa was set just outside Xativa down a steep dirt track, but once there is beautifully positioned. The view of Xativa's castle from the back garden is breathtaking, especially in the sunset. The pool and gardens are simply and elegantly landscaped with a great sweeping drive. The villa itself is furnished with contemporary furnishings and colours, all brand new, and adequate for our stay. We spent lovely days just relaxing around the pool enjoying the peace and quiet of the countryside around the villa. We used the satnav to visit suggested clearwater lakes where we could swim - places frankly without the satnav we would never have found. Xativa itself has a fantastic old town and castle to explore, but has the modern facilities of shopping but with traditonal Spanish elements which we thoroughly enjoyed. Although the owners of the villa are not on site, their friends, Paul and Sue, live locally and are very happy to give advice or book restaurents etc. They suggested visiting LaMeditrranea in L'Olleria next village to Xativa - a local recyled glass company which sells glasses in contemporary designs. I highly recommend visiting and purchasing some of their glassware it is wonderful!

We certainly wish to visit the villa and area again in the future, for a truly relaxing and beautiful holiday in the real spain. The owners, Scott and Lisa, have a fantastic villa which we highly recommend to anyone who just wants to relax with modern facilities at hand.
