Castello di Alica is situated in the hamlet of Alica overlooking the Val d'Era. The nearby village of Forcoli which is less than five minutes drive or 15 minutes walk has numerous local shops, banks and cafes. The stunning small hill top villages of Peccioli and Palaia with their medieval buildings and cobbled streets have a lovely range of restaurants. Alica is a wonderful place for an exploring holiday as the famous Tuscan towns of Volterra Lucca San Gimagnano Pisa and Florence are within easy reach. Pontedera a busy town with a weekend antiques market is twenty minutes drive, it has a mainline station so it is easy to leave the car and catch one of the frequent trains to Florence or Pisa or to the large port of Livorno. For music lovers it is wonderful to visit the summer opera festival at Puccini's home town Torre del Lago or the Boccelli concert in his home village Lajatico.
