Our favorite vacation rental in southern France

We’ve rented a number of different houses and apartments throughout France, but we always tend to come back to La Vigne. Next summer will be our third vacation there. The house is perfect for either a couple or three people, especially if you like the combination of staying in the midst of a delightfull village (full of restaurant choices) and at the same time having a large sunny terrace with complete privacy and gorgeous views. The overall standard of the house ranges from ok/good to very good. The kitchen downstairs is somewhat small, but it’s just enough for two or a small family. The adjoining sitting room would be great for indoor dinners, although we always stick to the fabulous terrace for all meals. The upper bathroom is sizable and well equipped. The living room is a little on the small side, but very cosy! The master bedroom offers a comfortable bed and lots of closet space. Haven’t tried the downstairs bedroom, next to the garage. And yes, it’s definitely a plus to have a garage of your own in a pedestrianized village like Haut de Cagnes. Watch out so you don’t bring a SUV or another sort of oversized car, though.
What really makes us want to come back repeatedly, is the outstanding terrace, and also the location. I’ll gladly recommend to anyone to lounge on the terrace of the La Vigne, a glass of rosé wine in hand, gazing at the mountainous horizon, the nearby rooftops and the top of the Grimaldi castle, before taking the short stroll to the Grimaldi place for a nice dinner or for people watching in idyllic surroundings. Although Haut de Cagnes is lively and full of people during the summer months, it is by no means touristy. Hm… all this raving and talk of recommending La Vigne; I’m giving myself a hard time trying to find an available week the next time :)
