A relaxing and tranquil haven.

My Wife and I just spent a the first week of November at Casa Maya. It's truly a lovely place. Very tastefully decorated, spacious with all mod cons. Thank God for the air conditioning.

Having your own pool is another huge plus and we had some great pool parties!

Maria, the house keeper, is also very helpful and she kept the place spotless as well as cooking our breakfasts every morning.

Also, the bed in the master bedroom is sooo comfy too!

The only criticism I could make is that during the course of our stay, there were numerous power cuts and there was no generator to back it up. It also could be useful if the path from the main road was lit up a tad more.

But honestly, it's a wonderful place to spend your holiday and we both thoroughly recommend it.

Andy and Jen, Surbiton.

Lovely 3 nights at Casa maya

Chillipepper North Yorkshire
Review Submitted: May 18, 2009 Date of Stay: April 2009
We stayed for my husbands birthday at the end of April. I couldnt recommend this house enough. I must admit when we first walked through the right of way i thought oh no! But when we reached the gates it was like a little oasis. The house is so well decorated and live in help was great.

I would definately return to Casa Maya again but i wasnt too thrilled with Candolim itself. We have stayed before in Candolim but felt this time was resort was really dirty. It was lovely coming back to the house on a night and going for a swim.

the property is spotlessly clean and i would recommend it to anyone.
Owner's Response: I am working on the approach to the house but find that my Goan neighbours are very suspicious of my intentions and feel that I am trying to take over their land. But it is slowly but surely getting better and now that the Panchayat have laid a nice metalled road to within ten metres of Casa Maya it is a great improvement.

But all in all the facilities at Casa Maya and close proximity to the beach as well as shops while still being in a quiet and peaceful seeting far outway what is an extremely minor problem with access

An oasis of calm and beuty

honey bees London, UK
Review Submitted: May 10, 2009 Date of Stay: April 2009
We were lucky enough to get a short term rental at the end of the tourist season in April 09, and we are SO pleased we did. Casa Maya is just near the beach in Candolim (off Beach Road), with lots of restaurants and shops only a couple of minutes walk away, but it is an oasis of calm and beauty. The walled grounds are wonderful and the house, pool and private roof terrace are to die for. Maria, the housekeeper, is charming and extremely helpful - she helped us with our barbecue and made the most delicious marinade (we left with the recipe!). Spent little time inside the house but it is stunning; the beds in our room had lovely crips cotton sheets and were the most comfortable we've ever slept in in India. Certainly there are lots of cheaper properties to rent in Goa on this site, but we felt that for the quality of accommodation, peace and joy of having your own private pool, the extra money is money well spent. We would highly recommend this property and will certainly be doing our best to revisit. It would be impossible not to enjoy it. Just don't book when we plan to go back!!

Easter in Goa

Tracey and family Leicestershire
Review Submitted: May 5, 2009 Date of Stay: April 2009
Our visit to Goa took place this Easter when the weather was very hot even for the locals. Having seen the Casa Maya on the web site we were impressed with the reality. Maria was fabulous and could not help enough. She maintained the property and managed the other staff attending to the property. Nothing was too much trouble including a full English breakfast! Drying space was a bit limited for a family of five. The setting was ideal although the route to the beach was a bit round about as the neighbour had put a gate across the main route and installed dogs! The pool was great and no arguements about grabbing the sunbeds. Plenty of wildlife for nature enthusiasts including Red Whiskered Bulbul and Asian Paradise Flycatcher - both of which used the pool as a watering hole even when we were in it. Restaurants to reccomend are Fiesta, Soumyen's Kitchen, Casa Manolita and Floyds.
Must see places are Hampi in Karnatica, Cashew nut factory and the beaches. Must do: Travel in a Tuk-tuk, drink Sweet Lime Soda on the beach and check out the jewelry shops. A word of caution - some of the taxi drivers are speed mad and nervous passengers should sit in the back of the car/van.
We would definitely reccomend the place to our friends. Stuart was very helpful but we did miss the Portuguese chair which was shown on the web site but in for repair when we arrived. Thanks for a wonderful stay
Owner's Response: The Portuguese/ Raj chair with the long arms is now back in place having been delivered back from the workshop the day Tracey and her family left.

Regarding the neighbours putting a gate obstructing the route to the beach this is in fact our right of way according to my man at the Panchayat (local council) and there is nothing to stop my guests using this route to get to the beach. The gate is in fact a big improvement on the piece of wood that used to be plonked there although not as nice as the metal gate that I offered to provide for the neighbours at my expence.

Very good experience in a beautiful Villa

Titina Belgium
Review Submitted: November 13, 2008 Date of Stay: October 2008
Our experience in Casa Maya was very good. The villa is well taken care of, beautifully decorated and with all comodities you could dream of: from internet conexion to CD & DVD player and walled safe... and we felt at home very easily, which does not normally happen on vacation. The gardener and the swimming pool cleaner come every morning and the security guard every night. The water pump made noise the first night but they temporarily fixed it by switching it at night until it could be permanently fixed. The maid living in house was very attentive. The house is centric and at the same time a bit hidden (which is pleasant) although only a 5mn walk to the beach. Through contacts we could rent a scooter that made our life easier - highly recommended. In general, very good and in fairness towards readers of this review, the rating of 4 is only due to the first night issue with the pump (we did not sleep) and the absence of the handyman. Should this have not happened, Casa Maya Goa would have certainly got an excellent 5 out of 5!. The owners are lovely and very responsive and I would strongly recommend Casa Maya.
Owner's Response: The water pressure pump was an unfortunate glitch as the plumber had not finished installing it when I had to leave to go back to the UK and I wasn't able to check it when he finished. He had mounted it on a wooden box and not on a solid block. I had it mounted correctly as soon as I heard about it and the noise stopped. I have since moved it out of the house into the pump room for the pool. So we now have really good water pressure throughout the house especially in both shower rooms and no noise from the pump.
