Cassis apartment

This is an exquisite property in a modern aprtment block with a mixture of holiday and residential apartments. All the blocks are secure and accessed only by key. The rooms are very spacious and comfortably furnished. It was immaculate in cleanliness. The owner provides a useful guide to the property and the area, and everything in the kitchen is labelled with useful tips.Everthing one might need is available in the kitchen, even a kettle which you do not see much in French apartments. The view from the balcony is fantastic over the harbour.
The concierge and his wife are extremely friendly and helpful, and even ran us to the railway station on our departure. There English is not good however. The communal pool is adequate and clean, but not huge, but big enough to have a diving board. Going to the pool is a handy way to meet other residents.
Communication with the owner was excellent, and he gave some useful tips about good vantage points for viewing the Tour De France which was passing throught the region.
The walk to the town is all downhill, and only takes a few minutes. The walk uphill is more daunting, and was difficult for me as I have a heart condition. We did not have a car, but soon found out about the local navette bus service, which stops about 300m uphill from the apartments an easy walk down.
Cassis itself is a busy village which relies on the Callanques as the main draw for tourits. The main evening occupation is promenading, and eating in the many restauants of all types and price ranges which cluster along the quayside. You can nearly always rely on being able to watch a game or two of Boules in the area near the harbour. The market twice weekly is interesting escpecially for buying clothes and food, and there is a craft market in the evenings. Nightlife outside of that listed above is few and far between and I feel some of the local bars should consider bands etc.
There is a supermarket in the town, plus a Petit Casino and Spar.
We felt that a car would have been a better option than using trains to travel up towrds Nice etc or up towards Arles. Both are which are worth the visit. Marseille was a surprise and well worth the visit.
The owner telephoned us during the stay to check all was well and wish us a good holiday. He also sent us Christmas greetings, which is a very nice touch which I have not had before.
I would recommend this rental to anyone. Brilliant
