This delightful villa is located in the heart of Puglia’s country-side. With no immediate neighbours and totally surrounded by olive groves, Villa Capperi offers total seclusion and serenity. Accessed by a pine fringed drive and surrounded by dry stone walls. The villa is set in over three acres of land with olive trees and a variety of fruit trees. This very spacious 3 bedroom villa sleeps 6/8. Well equipped modern kitchen and two bathrooms. The substantial lounge also houses a 14 seater dining table. Terraces surround the villa and there is an extensive main marble-floored veranda at the front of the villa. The veranda leads onto the large private swimming pool (12m x 4.5m) which has Roman steps and is surrounded by a dry stone wall. The villa has a king-size outdoor table and chairs, barbecue, sunbeds, poolside chairs etc. The roof terrace is 200 sq mt and although air conditioning is available the villa is naturally cool.

The Villa is 3km from the nearest beach, 4km from the nature reserve and extensive golden sands at Torre Guaceto. Ostuni is no more than 15 minutes drive. We are 5km from both the town of Carovigno with its attractive old town and the lively resort and beach of Santa Sabina. Lecce with its famous Baroque architecture is just 40 minutes drive away as are Locorotondo, Francavilla and Alberobello. We are 4km from the large supermarket on the outskirts of San Vito dei Normanni. Carovigno has beautiful churches, a castle and a nearby underground grotto at Belvedere. The Carovigno area is well known throughout Puglia for its cuisine and each restaurant is proud of its specialties featuring local produce such as olives, tomatoes, cheese and fish. You won't need to look further than house wines which are superb value. The lively coastal resort of Santa Sabina with its superb restaurants and pizzerias is just 10 minutes drive away and this is a favourite destination for Villa Capperi's guests.

Additional information about rental rates

  • Bookings can be made by contacting the owners and can be secured on receipt of a 30% deposit. In cases of cancellation this is non refundable. Confirmation of booking will be sent on receipt of deposit. Pay balance by cheque or bank transfer 2 months prior to departure. Details of how to reach property and pick-up keys will be sent on receipt of final payment. There is a £150 security/breakage deposit also payable 2 months in advance. Air conditioning is available at no extra cost provided usage is not excessive. The security deposit is returnable minus costs for any breakages.
  • • Towels and linen included (Not beach or pool towels). Linen and towels changed weekly. Pool maintenance at least once per week. Villa cleaned weekly. Changeover day is normally Saturday but we will try to accommodate the growing demand for mid-week to mid-week bookings. You will be met at the Villa by an English speaking key holder who will explain the Villa's facilities.

  • All three bedrooms are very large. All furnishings were new when the villa was comprehensively restored in 2007 and there is ample wardrobe and storage space for clothes etc. The large lounge contains a high quality double sofa bed. There is ample bedding for eight guests. Because the Villa is one of the biggest in the area, there is more than enough space for eight guests.

The Villa has a three acre estate which is surrounded by a traditional Puglian dry stone wall. Guests will be required to operate the modern security system. Villa Capperi has a very large roof terrace (200 sq.m.) with stunning views across the estate. Entrance to the roof terrace is via a gated stairway, however, we recommend that parents of young children should not leave them unattended. Air conditioning is available at no extra cost provided usage is not excessive. Like all air conditioning, it requires windows and doors to be closed to work properly and minimise electricity costs. However, the villa is naturally cool if you observe the Italian custom of closing the shutters when the sun is at its hottest. Sorry, no pets

Guests Comments: The villa was rented for the first time in August 2007. Our first guest said: 'Fantastic! A very peaceful and relaxing week. The pool is a good swim and the Villa well equipped and quiet'; guest number 2 said: ‘We’ve had a lovely time here with our children aged 4 and 11'; another family told us: ‘We had a fantastic time here. The weather was great, even a cool breeze to keep us cool under the strong sunshine. We loved our local beach Torre Guaceto. We will be back next year!' and indeed they have now stayed at Villa Capperi three times! From 2009 season guests have said: “Villa Capperi was fantastic! We all had a great stay, thank you!!” “We didn't have a chance to leave a comment in the guest book but I did want to let you know what a fabulous time we had at Villa Capperi. The house was perfect for us. We picked fresh figs and almonds every morning and made very good use of the pool. We had a fabulous time and still are trying to hold onto our vacation 'high'. “

Home from Home: This is a very well equipped villa. From experience we know how important it is to have those useful everyday things we take for granted at home. You will find an iron, ironing board, extensive clothes line and large clothes horse to help with your holiday laundry. The kitchen is fully equipped with plenty of good quality crockery, cutlery, glasses, cooking utensils, etc. to enhance your alfresco dining on the extensive marble terrace. There are three free-standing fans and even a couple of electric fires in the very unlikely event that you'll need them. The lounge has CD/Radio/cassette player as well as a flat screen TV and DVD player. A hairdryer and straighteners are also available. Local tourist information, a phrase book, etc are provided for guests.

Travel to Villa Capperi: We are an easy drive 25 minutes from Brindisi port and airport (Ryanair) and no more than 75 minutes from Bari airport (BA and Ryanair). Car hire is essential due to the Villa's secluded location. In addition, there are frequent inexpensive flights from all over Europe that go to Naples. The journey from Naples to Puglia is mainly motorway and is a comfortable 3.5 hours. BA flights to Bari fill up early. If you are coming to Puglia we recommend that you book your flight early. Changeover day is normally Saturday but we will try to accommodate the growing demand for mid-week to mid-week bookings.
