Chalet Ribot is nestled in the tiny hamlet of Ribot Huez on hairpin 12 of the infamous Alpe d’Huez. This 200 year old, traditional mountain house has been carefully renovated and transformed into 5 beautiful self contained apartments. The Chalet is open year round and offers specialist cycling accommodation for some of the thousands of visitors who flock to the area to enjoy the gruelling climbs and exhilarating descents offered by the French Alpes. Local climbs include Col de la Croix de Fer, Col du Galibier, and Col du Glandon to name a few. If you fancy taking part in the famous, ’La Marmotte’ race or would like to enjoy the Alpe d’Huez stage of the Tour De France, then Chalet Ribot is perfect for you! Chalet Ribot's location offers tranquil ski accommodation a stones throw away from the hustle and bustle of the cosmopolitan ski resort of Alpe d'Huez. Both half board and self catering accommodation are available.

Chalet Ribot is the ideal location for holiday makers wishing to enjoy the many activities in the local area. From climbing to rafting, horse riding to swimming, there is something for everyone! For those wishing to just lie back and relax, why not enjoy our south facing garden with a glass of wine and a good book! During the winter season, Decemeber - April, the resort of Alpe d’Huez has over 238 km of linked pistes and is home to the famous Pic Blanc. The Sarenne, the world's longest ski piste is 16 km in length and descends over 2200m in vertical drop (one hour of downhill skiing!) Alpe d’Huez is linked to the resorts of Vaujany, Villard-Reculas and Auris-en-Oisans. It also has 20 legendary off piste ski routes, one half pipe and a snow park. If you want more then why not visit Les 2 Alpes, it is right next door and you have a day visit included on the six-day Visalp ski pass.

We have been to Chalet Ribot a few times, both in summer and in winter and it doesn't disappoint. It is a beautiful, cosy building in a stunning location and the owners could not be more friendly and helpful. The food is excellent, a good mix of traditonal French as well as English and other dishes. Also, I am vegetarian and was impressed with how much thought and effort had been out into the menu - better than most places in France for vegetarians thats for sure!! The decor and atmosphere is much better than most french places we have stayed in too. The resort is only a few minutes away by car and is big enough so that you won't get bored of the slopes. Also plenty of nightlife and shops to choose from.
The only very slight drawback with the chalet is that there are no baths to soak in after a day on the pistes but you can easily use the pool, sauna etc at the resort - the cost of which is included in your lift pass.
Overall, I think this Chalet would be an ideal choice for everyone - families, couples, groups of friends of all ages. It is also very good value for money.

Chalet Ribot is a fantastic place to relax, after a hard day on the mountain. whether you are here in winter or summer its simply perfect. Situated in the tiny (tiny) hamlet of Ribot on bend 12 the place is tranquil in the extreme, with no bars or clubs, just Susan's amazing home cooked food (and lots of it) and Daniel's bar skills they set the pace for a perfect night in front of the log burning fire. The Chalet itself is very interesting, a stunning view over the Osians valley from the garden/veranda. This backs onto the homely lounge/dining area with big comfy sofas and the communal table for meals. The apartments themselves are self contained and vary in size, all include a living area and dining area with kitchen and bathroom. They are all unique and I have now stayed in each one on my many visits to the chalet and they are all warm, welcoming and offer simple, yet comfortable accomodation.
They all have their own little quirks and layouts and offer something different, perfect whatever the size of your group.
The chalet is clean and serviced well and every need is catered for by the owners. All we had to do was ask and every request was granted with no trouble whatsoever..!
I have stayed here many times now and it really is the sort of place i could return to every year. If you want night life then Alpe D'Huez is only 10 mins up the road but if you enjoy a good meal, good company and relaxing in a cosy alpine atmosphere this is your place. Its quiter than most and you need a car to take full adantage of the area but it makes up for this in charm and friendlyness.
I have sent many friends here on my recomendation and all have re-booked for further holidays.
I will be back again next season i'm sure.......

September may not be the typical time of year a visit to the Alps might be planned but we loved it. Quiet roads.
Oh! those courteous French drivers.
The accommodation was ideal, a lovely old building sympathetically restored, super clean.
As full board was the treat for us - Susan's cooking is super, lots of fresh stuff for cyclists.
Daniel's tips for first time Alpine riders are invaluable. We did not try to "do" the Alp on the first day but on his advice went for an easier climb!
For our 2009 visit we hope to try mid August.

Really friendly people and a great location. stunning views from the breakfast table, very nice and spacious rooms, great lounge to relax in after a day on the mountain! the food is fantastic and good portions are available. will definitely be returning to this one
