Bastide Oleander is a charming stone house, sympathetically restored, retaining original beams & fireplaces. It is beautifully decorated & furnished incorporating the Provençal style. Set between the coast & the mountains, the house faces south in 8 acres with panoramic views towards the Maures hills. Whilst secluded, it is only 3 miles to Lorgues with a good selection of shops, cafés, bars & restaurants. The 10m x 5m heated swimming pool has plenty of sun loungers & garden furniture on the large paved terraces surrounding it. You can dine outside for 10 under the shade of the oaks, in the summer kitchen, or inside in the kitchen. Also downstairs is a dining room, TV room, sitting room, double bedroom with patio doors & a bathroom, all furnished to a high standard. Upstairs is a delightful master bedroom with en suite & balcony, 3 further bedrooms & 2 bathrooms. This holiday rental offers an idyllic & peaceful location; ideal for a family gathering or 2 families sharing a holiday.

Lorgues (4 km) lies 1 hour between the beautiful beaches of the French Riveria & the Gorges du Verdon, making it an ideal location to explore from. Lorgues itself is a vibrant, friendly town with many shops, cafés, bars & restaurants. On Tuesdays a large Provençal market dominates the long main street (the best in the Var, so they say). The nearest beaches to reach are St Maxime & Frejus (40mins) both with Aquaparks for the children. Drive south across the Maures hills to reach Grimaud, Port Grimaud & St Tropez (1hr). North, the unspoilt Lac St Croix (50mins) is a must, with swimming & many water sports on its turquoise water. Further on the dramatic Gorges du Verdon (1hr), France's own Grand Canyon, has canoeing, rafting & the most spectacular scenery. Near by places to visit include the Abbey du Thoronet, the waterfall at Sillans-la-Cascade, the Chateau at Entrecasteaux & many picturesque villages such as Toutour 'known as the village in the sky', Cotignac, Villecroze & Aups.

  • RENTAL:
    Saturday to Saturday in high season. Prices are per property per week in UK pounds.
    The swimming pool is heated from the end of May to late September & is cleaned & maintained weekly. There is a charge of £150 per week outside of these dates.
    Arrive from 4pm & depart no later than 10am.
  • INCLUDED:
    All electricity, water, gas for the BBQ, swimming pool heating (summer), WiFi broadband internet, bedlinen, bath towels & bath mats. A 2 hour midweek clean is provided & changeover clean, before & after your stay. On bookings of more than one week there is a weekly linen change on Saturday.
    Please bring your own pool/beach towels.
  • BOOKING:
    A 25% deposit is required to secure your dates. The balance & a security deposit of £800 is required 8 weeks before your arrival date. The security deposit will be refunded in full providing the house is left in good order.
    Our availability chart is constantly updated so if the dates you want look free they probably are.
    £200 REDUCTION ON A TWO WEEK BOOKING. 5% DISCOUNT FOR RETURNING CLIENTS.

  • Downstairs there is one bathroom with a wet-room shower, loo, & basin. It is near the downstairs double bedroom. Upstairs there are 3 more bathrooms; 2 of the bathrooms have a loo, shower & basin, & the 4th bathroom is the en suite to the master bedroom. The en suite bathroom has a loo, bath, walk-in shower, & twin basins. All the bathrooms are tiled, well lit, have mirrors & heated towel rails. Bath & hand towels are provided along with bath mats. There is a utility area upstairs at the back of the house with a door giving access to the grounds. A washing machine, iron & ironing board are provided.

Bedroom 2 has twin beds (see photo) & Bedroom 3 has a wrought iron kingsize bed (see photo). These 2 bedrooms are next to & opposite a bathroom. Bedroom 4 has twin beds & is opposite another bathroom. Bedroom 5 is the master bedroom and has a superking size bed (see photo) with an en suite bathroom, patio doors onto a small balcony & a TV & DVD player. All the bedrooms have a view over the pool, with tiled floors, rugs & ceiling or room fans. They have good quality comfortable beds with luxury bed linen & Provençal bed covers. A travel cot & bedding can be provided.

Notes: The Bastide has a mixture of antique & wrought iron French furniture, comfy sofas, good quality comfortable beds & a fully equipped marble kitchen. The house has been totally renovated & extended in 2008 & then repainted in light colours with distresed beams. The thick stone walls help keep the house cool in summer & warm in winter. There is a snug TV room with a L-shaped sofa, a wide screen TV with French TV, English TV with freeview stations & a DVD player with a selection of DVDs. There are also board games. The sitting room has 2 comfy sofas & chairs, a hi-fi with CD/radio/iPod dock, books, telephone for incoming calls & unlimited WiFi. The fitted marble kitchen has everything you require; American fridge/freezer, oven, ceramic hob, microwave, dishwasher, espresso machine, plenty of work surface etc etc. It has an extendable forged iron table & chairs to seat 6 - 10. Off the kitchen is a round table in the open plan dining room to seat 4 - 6. A highchair can be provided.

Outside : Bastide Oleander faces south in 8 acres of olive, oak & pine, with wonderful views towards the distant hills of the Massif des Maures. It looks out over its terraced olive grove & the property is very peaceful, tranquil & not overlooked. To the front of the house there are large paved sun terraces. On the lower one is a 10m x 5m heated swimming pool with roman steps & a shallow end. It has an electrically operated rigid pool cover conforming with French safety laws. There are 8 sun loungers for relaxing on around the pool. On the upper terrace there is a large forged iron table with chairs & cushions. You can dine there alfreso for 10, shaded by day & at night with the outside lighting on. There is an outside covered summer kitchen with a sofa, another iron table & chairs, a built-in gas barbecue, sink & extra fridge. At the back of the house there is a large graveled area with plenty of parking. The house is reached by its own driveway (not suitable for very low-slung sports cars).

Lorgues : Lorgues (4km) is a pretty market town, surrounded by vineyards & olive groves & dominated by the impressive church 'La Collegiale St Martin'. There are many old squares, fountains & narrow pituresque streets to explore. It has 3 supermarkets, plenty of small shops & all the usual amenities a town offers. For eating out there are many choices of bars, cafés, restaurants & of course 'Brunos', the famous truffle inspired restaurant with celebrity chef owner. The long main street with ancient plane trees giving shade for the large Provençal market each Tuesday. This is a colourful affair where you can buy clothes, baskets, pottery & even beds! Also, sample produce including breads, cheeses, olive oils, tapenades & choose from hot roasted chickens, hams & paella to take back for lunch. Many wine domaines are around to visit for tasting & buying the local ' Côtes de Provence' wines. Bastide Oleander is the ideal base for exploring all that Provence & the Cote D'Azur has to offer.

Travel : There are airports at Nice (1 hr), Toulon-Hyeres (50 mins) & Marseille (75 mins). They offer a wide choice of airlines between them, including EasyJet, Ryanair, BA, Flybe, Aerlingus, bmiIbaby & Jet2. The nearest railway station is at Les Arcs/Draguignan (15 mins) with frequent services to Cannes, Nice, Monaco, Italy, Toulon & Marseille. It is also a TGV stop with fast trains to Paris. In the summer you can book the Eurostar from London to Avignon direct & also the overnight Motorail service from Calais to Nice. The nearest access to the main motorway, the A8 autoroute, is at Le Luc by the Toulon junction (15 mins). Travelling east on the motorway takes you along the Cote D'Azur to Frejus, Cannes, Nice, Monaco & on into Italy. Travelling west takes you to Aix-en-Provence (1hr), Marseille (75 mins), Avignon (1hr 40 mins) & onwards. A car is necessary. It is also an ideal base from which to explore all that Provence & the Cote D'Azur has to offer.

Golf: The nearest golf courses are St Endreol at La Motte & Barbaroux at Brignoles. Both are about a 30 minute drive away. Tennis is available in the nearby village of St Antonin or Lorgues. Kayaking on the river Argens is 10 minutes away.

This was the 9th annual meet-up holiday together by a party of four oap couples and we had a most enjoyable stay at a beautifully-presented property. Just now and again we dragged ourselves out of the delightful solitude - and pool - not only to nearby villages, but also by rail from nearby Les Arcs to Monte Carlo/Monaco (partly coastal railway) and then took courage in our own hands to see the very impressive Gorges du Verdon. St Raphael and St. Maxime resorts not too far away.As advised we did not take low-slung cars on the private route up from the public road. - Rob, Suffolk

I have been renting property off Holiday Rentals since 2000, i have had some fantastic lets and no real lemons. Bastide Oleander is without doubt the best property we have stayed in, everything about it is excellent. The location is stunning, the furnishings are superb and the house has everything you need for a relaxing holiday.
Our party was 2 adults and 6 teenage girls, everyone had a fantastic time, whilst the property is secluded, Lorgues is a 5 minute drive and had a great selection of restaurants and supermarkets. Crispin and Trikia told us about a nearby river for swimming, very nice, with a great tree over a deep pool that the kids jumped off for hours.
The photographs on this site do not give a true sense of the location and quality of this property, i have just looked at my own photos and realise that they dont either, absolutely superb and we will return.
