Self-catering rental, sleeps 6.

This is a traditional two-storey apartment with brick vaulted ceilings in the heart of one of the oldest market towns of Abruzzo. Once a cobbler´s house, it is now modernized and restored with gas central heating and all modern conveniences, including broadband. It has a large, fully equipped kitchen-diner (though for the times when you prefer not to cook there are several good restaurants within a few minutes' walking distance). On the upper floor the main bedroom and living room look out over the Maiella mountains. There is also a large second bedroom, as well as a bathroom on each floor: a smaller bathroom with walk-in shower, bidet and toilet upstairs, and a large bathroom with bath/shower, bidet and toilet on the ground floor.

Penne is located in the very centre of Abruzzo within easy driving distance of both the mountains and the sea. It is a lively and historic market town with a wealth of historic buildings all in the honey coloured brick of the Maiella mountains. There are also all the modern facilities you could need: supermarkets, swimming pools, banks, etc. Just behind Penne is the biggest mountain in Abruzzo, the Gran Sasso, which offers rambling, horse riding and mountaineering. The sandy Adriatic coast is only half an hour's drive. So too is Pescara, the regional capital, famous for the annual Jazz festival. Penne has its own lake and aquatic bird reserve just 20 minutes walk away from the apartment.

Cozy nook in the heart of Abruzzo

Quiet location. Cosy, comfortable apartment.
All the equipment is working, wi-fi (the Internet) across the flat area.
Description compiled the master was very good (better than knowledge of the Italians, who met us :-))
Everything is good, I would recommend for a quiet holiday.

A real taste of Italy

A excellent place to stay,very clean and modern,felt at home as soon as we got in.There was 4 of us,we travelled with are two boys 12 and 14,found the place spacious and it had two seperate bedrooms.A little hard to find, but after we parked and asked a few locals we found the place....just part of the travelling experience. We stayed 4 nights and walked everywhere.the markets were set up on Saturday,lots of places to shop. We made supper twice ,small shops a short walk away sold the sausage,pastas and wine,fresh breads and of course cheese,a nice change from eating in restaurants.. A real nice taste of Italy.We stayed here the first week in August and would come here again.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Tourists without a Car, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Romantic Getaway

Explore the Abruzzo

Our family of 4 includes 2 teenagers.
We were all very happy with the flat.
It was warm, clean and comfortable. Lots of resources - ie well equipped kitchen, lots of info about the area, wi-fi and laundry facilities.

We explored the Abruzzo area venturing as far as Alba. Other trips included walking in the Majella National Park, Gran Sasso and closer.
The food - whether from the supermarkets, alimentaries or the restaurants was fantastic.

It is a beautiful part of Italy and we would love to return
