Coast/Beach: Barrill beach at Santa Luzia is only a short drive away. stretching A miniature train (or on foot) will take you to the fantastic sandy beach stretching from Fabrica in the east to Faro in the west. All belonging to the Ria Formosa nature reserve. There are bars and restaurants and an anchor grave yard to the old tuna fishing industry. Or take the ferry or aqua taxi and skim along the lagoon to other less populated beach areas.

Distances: 30km / 30 minutes from Faro airport. Car hire is essential, and an advantage for seeing all the beauty and places of interest this region has to offer. Tavira has all the amenities and a vast choice in good restaurants, bars and pavement cafes. Divided by a small river crossed by pedestrian and Roman bridges. Tavira remains an authentic and charming tapestry of old and new. Luz de Tavira is the nearest village and Santa Luzia the nearest coastal area. Both steeped in tradition and still unspoilt

Travel: 10 minute drive brings you to Tavira on the west of the river with charming bars and restaurants. To the east are churches, and a castle. Choice of 6 supermarkets supply ample fresh produce, with the local fish, meat and vegetable market not to be missed. Santa Luzia and Cabanas: Traditional working fishing villages boast excellent fish restaurants bordering Tavira. Many restaurants in and around the area give you an excellent choice in cusine. Canto Azul in Santa Luzia is not to be missed. Not to be missed is the trip over the Guardiana river to Spain and Ayamonte, 25 minutes by car. Seville is only 1 hour and 30 minutes away. If you do not want to go by car, then catch the train to Vila Real de St Antoinio and catch the ferry to Spain. Cacela Velha and Fabrica. are not to be missed the views rival the Bahamas only 10 minutes drive away. Fuzeta and Moncarapcho only 10 minutes drive west.

Golf: 10 minutes car drive away are Benamor golf course, Quinta da Cima and Quinta da Ria. Beautifully maintained golf courses, par 72, around 5,500 - 6110 m, 18 hole well situated with coastal views. Monte Rei now opened tipped to be the best course in Europe within 2 years only 15 minutes away. Castro Marim and the new Quinta Do Vale 20 minutes drive Quinta De Lago/Villamoura 30 minutes drive.
