Goult is a beautiful medieval hill-top village in the Luberon region of Provence, which is where Peter Mayle wrote his 'A Year in Provence'. It is a region noted for its beautiful landscapes of vineyards, orchards and lavender, with very picturesque hill-top villages dotted about. It is an hour north of Marseille and close to Avignon, Arles, Aix, Nimes, the Camargue, Orange, Mont Ventoux, St Remy and the Rhone wine trail. In summer there are art festivals everywhere, from the famous one at Avignon, to the international piano festival at La Roque d'Antheron, to small local events. Goult has the welll-loved Cafe de la Poste in its square, which is where locals and visitors gather for a coffee or meal, some good restaurants, and small shops like a bakery, butcher and greengrocer.
