Beautiful accommodation in the Charente, amid meadows & forests. This is a one bedroom self-catering cottage, is set in a private part of the grounds, away from the main house & other accommodation, giving you a high degree of privacy. It has a well furnished open plan living/dinning/kitchen area with large windows running west to east giving you wonderful panoramic views of the countryside. It is equppied with a washing machine, and TV with DVD player. Also includes a newly fitted modern bathroom and walk in closet and wood burning fire. The bedroom is fitted with a double bed, and the lounge with a sofa bed. It is possible to swap the double bed for two single beds in the bedroom for children for instance. This would allow the adults to use the sofa bed in the living room. The view from the large terrace/patio area is west facing and provides the most amazing sun sets in France. Located in beautiful rural France. Great for cycling, walking. Fishing lake & tennis courts less than 5 mins drive away. For water sports we are close to lakes Lavaud & Mas Chaban, (20-25 min drive) 2 neighbouring lakes covering 350 hectares, perfect for canoeing, rowing, sailing catamarans, ride on pedaloes, dinghies or sailboards and 2 fine beaches for lazing around. Take a 15min drive to La Rochefoucauld castle, housing one of the most precious staircases in the Charente! About 1h drive away to the west is Cognac, mid-July is the Cognac Blues Festival with a range of concerts and events along the Charente. Angouleme a 40min drive away is a town of art & history. It is also know as the of capital 'comic strip' and the city of festivity.

The perfect two person escape

The Gite was warm ( sometimes a little too warm when I stoked the woodburner) comfortable and homely. The hosts are delightful and very helpful. There is now a washing machine in the gite and nothing is missing. It really is the perfect get away from it all relax and unwind venue for two. With Cognac, Angoleme and many other interesting towns within easy driving distance it is perfect for exploring the countryside also. I recommend highly. And if you looking for a wedding venue... look no further than the house and its facilities.

After a weeks stay at the gite we felt toally relaxed! the gite was cosy and comfy! There was a tv and dvd player great for watching french telly and fab to watch dvd's of an evening whilst the sun went down. The hosts had an array of films you could borrow all you had to do was ask! This applies with everything really, if you needed anything the hosts were always there all you had to do was knock on the door and ask! the area was very beautiful and great if you had a car to explore! the local town was very quiet but did provide all you needed. The only downside was due to the very unseasonal weather, the poolwas quite cold but the hosts have said that they intend to get a heater!!!! We came with a 2year old and a cot was provided as was a hamper to see us through our first night. E.G.O
